    Abstract: A display apparatus includes an image display unit including electro-optic elements and pixel drive circuits arranged two-dimensionally in row and column directions, a first power supplying line for supplying a first potential to the image display unit, and plural data lines severally connected to columns of the image display unit for supplying data signals to the pixel circuits. In addition, plural scanning lines cross the data lines, a data line drive circuit drives the data lines, and a scanning line drive circuit drives the scanning lines. A second potential is supplied to the scanning line drive circuit through a second power supplying line, and the display apparatus is provided with elements for shifting potential of the scanning lines to the first potential of the first electric power supplying line when the second potential is lower than the first potential.

In a timing adjustment period, the data signal for adjustment is generated, the phases of the data signal and the timing signal are relatively shifted, the outputs of the sampling circuits are supplied to a common output line through respective switches, and the phase of the optimum timing signal or the video signal is determined based on the output from the common output line.

    Abstract: A light emitting element is provided to allow for resetting a shift register while keeping a frame narrow without increasing complexity of a shift register circuit. A display apparatus has a data line, a scanning line, a pixel circuit, a shift register circuit, a first power supply supplying a voltage to the shift register circuit and a second power supply supplying a voltage to the pixel circuit. One end of the scanning line is connected to an output of the shift register circuit, and writing of a data signal from the data line to the pixel circuit can be controlled by a scanning signal from the scanning line. When the first power supply is on, any one of a high-level signal and a low-level signal is input into the shift register circuit for the number of stages of the shift register, and thereafter, the second power supply is turned on.

The plurality of pixel circuits are arranged in a matrix and have every column connected to a data line. The 2nd FET is turned on for a predetermined time period, and an image data current flowing in the data line is supplied to the gate and drain of the 1st FET, thereby writing a current value of the image data current. A preliminary charging circuit is connected to the data line. Before the writing operation in the predetermined time period is expired, a current of a predetermined current value is applied to the image data current so that a gate-source voltage of the 1st FET is equal to or larger than a threshold value.
