Abstract: Brushware, such as brushes, paintbrushes, brooms or the like, comprising a bristle carrier and thermoplastic material bristle bundles fixed thereto are manufactured in that the ends of the bristle bundles are melted down and shaped to form a solid bolt-like attachment. On it is shaped a contour serving to provide a preferably detachable fixing of the bristle bundle to the bristle carrier, while on or in conjunction with the bristle carrier a corresponding contour is provided for the preferably detachable fixing of the bristle bundle. This makes it possible to fit the bristle bundles in a simple manner to the bristle carrier and to replace same by new bristle bundles in the case of wear or the like.

Abstract: A tool or implement for cleaning or treating surfaces or for applying media to surfaces has a holder and a deformable disposable working part interchangeably gripped by it, the holder exclusively comprising a sleeve constructed as a stick or grip and a sliding part guided thereon with a handle on its end projecting over the sleeve and with grippers arranged at its other end, which are displaceable from an open position projecting over the sleeve, exclusively by mounting on the working part and pressing by means of the sleeve so as to grip the working part into a use position fixing the latter and by means of the handle are displaceable in the reverse direction for releasing the working part.

Abstract: Bristle articles, which comprise a bristle carrier and thermoplastic bristles anchored therein are produced in that holes for receiving the bristles are formed on the bristle carrier, the fixing side ends of the bristles are melted, accompanied by a reduction of their length and the formation of a thickened portion and inserted with the thickened portion first into the holes on the bristle carrier.

Abstract: Process and apparatus for the production of bristle products from plastic. The products comprise a bristle carrier and bristles whose utilization-side ends are substantially unformly rounded and located in a contour differing from that of the bristle side surface of the bristle carrier. The opposite ends of the bristles are fastened to the bristle side surface of the bristle carrier. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the process comprises the steps of: clamping the bristles while their utilization-side ends are in a flat plane; substantially uniformly rounding the utilization-side ends of the bristles while they are clamped in the flat plane; loosening the clamp restraining the bristles and thereafter axially displacing the utilization-side ends of the bristles relative to one another to produce the desired contour; and fastening the opposite ends of the bristles to the bristle carrier.

Abstract: Bristle articles comprise a bristle carrier and bristles mechanically or thermally fixed thereto and formed from plastic monofilaments, optionally combined into bundles. For increasing the cleaning, distributing or application function of such bristle articles, over at least part of their length the monofilaments are flocked with short plastic fibres. Such bristle articles can be produced in that the surface of the monofilaments is provided with an adhesive or the surface thereof is heated to the soft plastic state and subsequently the fibres are applied to the monofilament in an electrostatic field. Instead of this, it is also possible to subsequently apply the fibres to the bristles connected to the bristle carrier, e.g. by means of an adhesive.

Abstract: Bristle articles can be manufactured in that the bristle carrier and optionally the ends of the bristles are melted and brought together under pressure, or the bristles are introduced into an injection or foaming mould for the bristle carrier and are embedded in the bristle carrier material by injection moulding or foaming. The cycle time of these processes is extremely long as a result of the thermal processes (heating, melting, injection moulding, cooling). It is possible to significantly reduce the same in that the tools for holding or producing the bristle carrier on the one hand and the clamping devices for the bristles on the other are moved on closed paths and the clamping devices at at least one common station are transferred to the path of the tools and at least during the thermal processes are jointly moved with the tools and are subsequently returned to their movement path.

Abstract: Bristle articles, such as brushes, brooms, paintbrushes, combs, mats, etc., comprise a bristle carrier and bristles combined into bundles and joined thereto and which are arranged in the form of several spaced rows. Such a bristle article is produced in that a bristle section is provided in a length, which essentially constitutes the length required for all the bristles of a row, plus the length resulting from the sum of the spacings of the bristles in a row. Accompanied by corresponding shortening of the bristle section, from the latter loops are formed at each bristle position, are drawn in a spacing corresponding to the spacing of the bristles in the row and then all the loops are fixed by one of their ends simultaneously to the bristle carrier, while they are optionally cut at the opposite end.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing products with bristles, composed of a bristle holder made of pourable or foamable material and plastic bristles anchored therein. The bristles are introduced through channels into a mold for the bristle holder, melted by heat at the end in the mold to form a thickening, and the thickening of each bristle is brought into a sealing fit with the opening of the channel guiding it, possibly leaving an undercut at the thickening, and the mold is then filled with bristle holder material. The bristles and bristle holders can be made from different materials by casting or foaming of the bristle holder, whereby the channels guiding the bristles are sealed off by the thickening so that the bristle holder material cannot escape to the outside and especially cannot have a disadvantageous effect on the bristle shoulder. In addition, a combined force and force-fitted anchoring of the bristles in the bristle holder is ensured.

Abstract: A process for the manufacture of bristle products, from multifilament bristle strands wound in the form of endless material onto reels. The bristle strands, after unwinding, are supplied to a processing station, where they are fixed to a bristle carrier either in continuous or cut to size form. The removal from the spools takes place by a holding or tensile force acting in timed manner on the bristle strands at the processing station. In order to eliminate the non-uniform lengths of the individual monofilaments due to manufacture or processing and which lead to loop formation during processing, at least during the holding cycles acting on the processing station, a tensile force directed counter to the holding force acts on all the bristle strands. This tensile force is set in such a way that the bristle strands and, preferably, also all the monofilaments within a bristle strand are stretched between the spools and the processing station.

Abstract: In a process for producing bristle tuft material or separate bristles of plastic or synthetic resin for making sweeping brushes, brooms or housepainters' and artists' brushes, endless monofilaments are extruded and then directly wound on a bobbin or guided together in the form of tow, such tow then being twisted and cross wound onto a bobbin without end flanges so that, for a given diameter or size of bobbin, the material is less sharply bent, and will be less permanently curled when taken off the bobbin. Furthermore it is possible for a much greater length of endless monofilament material to be put in a single package so that less of the weight of such a package is made up by the weight of the bobbin. From the point of view of production engineering, there is the useful effect that the monofilaments or the twisted tow may be run off parallel to the axis of the cross wound package and the drawing off part of the brush making machine made of simpler design.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for the manufacture of bristle products, such as paintbrushes, brushes, brooms and the like, which comprise a bristle carrier and bristle bundles fixed thereto. The bristles are drawn from a continuous strand on a storage reel and pass through a mould, so that the strand is given a random cross-sectional shape. Downstream of the mould, the reshaped continuous strands are fixed to a bristle carrier and then bristles are cut to the desired length, so that the bristle bundles can be given different shapes and the bristle material can be continuously processed from the reel. The cross-sectional shape of the individual bristle bundles can be adapted to the particular intended use.

Abstract: In a toothbrush with a body providing a brush head and a handle and bristles fastened to the brush head, a hygienic, bacteria-avoiding construction is obtained in that the body and bristles are made of the same material and are welded to one another so that the brush head is free of empty space. Further, with this construction a larger number of bristles can be applied to achieve a better cleaning and massaging effect and the dimensions of the brush head can be reduced.
