  • Patent number: 7501930
Abstract: A control system is for a lock of a door movably disposed within a frame and having a latch engageable with the frame, an interior handle connected with the latch and an exterior handle connectable with the latch. A connective mechanism is configured to releasably connect the exterior handle with the latch and an input device is configured to generate an unlock signal. A controller is coupled with the input device and configured to operate the connective mechanism such that the mechanism connects the exterior handle with the latch. The controller is selectively operable in a standard mode where the controller operates the mechanism when the controller receives the unlock signal and a lockdown mode where the controller does not operate the mechanism when receiving the unlock signal. A lockdown-input device coupled with the controller is configured to generate a lockdown signal to switch the controller to the lockdown mode.

  • Publication number: 20090027197
Abstract: A security system is for monitoring a door movably disposed within a frame. A lock is adjustable between a locked configuration and an unlocked configuration and a lock sensor is configured to generate a signal when the lock adjusts to the unlocked configuration. A door sensor is configured to generate a signal when the door displaces with respect to the frame and an alarm device is configured to provide an alarm. Further, a control is coupleable with the lock and door sensors and is switchable between armed and disarmed modes. The control is configured to operate in the armed mode such that the control activates the alarm when the control receives the door sensor signal prior to a receipt of the lock sensor signal. Alternatively, the control switches to the disarmed mode when the control receives the lock sensor signal prior to a receipt of the door sensor signal.

  • Publication number: 20070290790
Abstract: A lock programming device (10) is for use with a lock system (40) including a computer (2) and a one door lock(s) having a control. The computer has RAM (6), a storage device (7), and a program for generating lock code data files in response to user input. The lock control has memory (4a) for storing a lock code data file(s) and is configured to operate the lock when receiving input corresponding to the code file. The programming device (10) includes a base (12) disposeable in a user's hand and a flash memory (14) connected with the base for storing at least one data file. A controller (16) connected with the base is coupled with the flash memory and coupleable with the computer. The controller communicates with the computer to write a data file in RAM directly to the flash memory and communicates with the lock control to transfer the data file from the flash memory to the lock memory.

  • Publication number: 20070157684
Abstract: An override mechanism is for an electronic door lock assembly that includes a handle, a retractor and an electronic clutch mechanism with a movable coupler and an actuator. The coupler operatively connects the handle with the retractor when the coupler is located in an engaged position and the actuator is operable to displace the coupler between a nonengaged position and the engaged position. The override mechanism includes a movable override member configured to displace the clutch coupler between the nonengaged and engaged positions. The override member also retains the clutch coupler at the engaged position when the override member is disposed at an unlock position and prevents displacement of the coupler during actuator operation when the override member is disposed at a lockout position. Further, a manual drive, preferably including a cylinder lock, is configured to displace the override member between the unlock and lockout positions.

  • Publication number: 20060192396
Abstract: A latch assembly is for a lock of a door and includes a latch movably disposed within the door. A sensor is configured to sense when the latch is generally located at a particular position with respect to the door. Preferably, the latch is displaceable between an extended position, at which the latch is engageable with a strike, and a retracted position at which the door is moveable with respect to a frame, and the sensor preferably senses when the latch is located at at least one of these two positions. The sensor preferably includes a reed switch and a magnet, and preferably generates a signal when the latch is located at, or displaces from, the particular position. Further, the sensor is coupleable with either a processing device, such as a computer or controller, or an alarm device, such as a horn, a light or a speaker.

  • Publication number: 20060150694
Abstract: A shield device is for fastener(s) of a lock assembly that is adjustable between inoperable and operable states, each fastener including a head and being removably engageable with a door to connect the lock assembly therewith. The shield device includes a barrier displaceable between a first position, where the barrier covers the fastener head to prevent removal of the fastener, and a second position where the fastener is accessible to permit removal. The barrier is disposed in the first position when the lock is in the inoperable state and in the second position when the lock is in the operable state. Preferably, the lock assembly includes a member that adjusts the lock assembly between the operable and inoperable states and the barrier is coupled with the member. As such, when the lock member adjusts the lock assembly between the two states, the barrier displaces between the first and second positions.

  • Patent number: 7007526
Abstract: An electronic clutch assembly is for a lock system having a latch and first and second rotatable spindles, one being connected with the latch. A clutch is coupled with the first spindle, has a connective portion engageable with the second spindle, and is linearly displaceable along a first axis between a first position, where the connective portion is nonengaged with the second spindle and a second position where the connective portion is engaged with the second spindle. A cam is displaceable generally along a second axis extending generally perpendicularly with respect to the first axis and is configured to linearly displace the clutch between the two clutch positions. An electric actuator is operatively connected with the cam and configured to linearly displace the cam along the second axis such that the clutch alternatively couples the second spindle with the first spindle and uncouples the second spindle from the first spindle.

  • Publication number: 20050128050
Abstract: A door security system for controlling access through a door of a secured area by controlling a lock status of an associated locking unit of the door. The system includes an operator that operates the locking unit of the door, a key pad, a magnetic card reader, and a contact activatable data port. A data processor is responsive to the magnetic card reader, the data port, and the keypad for controlling the operator. Each of the keypad, the magnetic card reader, and the contact activatable data port can manipulate the lock status of the locking unit of the door. The data processor further comprises link means for requiring multiple entries for implementing the lock status of the door.

  • Patent number: 6876293
Abstract: An electronic door security system employs an input console having three readers for enhanced security. A microprocessor processes inputs applied at each of the readers to selectively permit access through a secured door. Application of an input to any of the readers transforms the controller from a sleep mode to an active mode.

  • Patent number: 6715225
Abstract: An illuminated exit bar incorporates a light source within the elongated space defined between a door-mounted housing and a push bar. The push bar defines an elongated opening for light generated within the exit bar. An exit plate covers the push bar opening and defines light transmissive openings in the form of exit instructions. An exit insert of light transmissive material is configured to be complementary to the exit plate. Light is gathered from within the exit plate and conducted to the push face of the exit bar to provide illuminated words and/or symbolic instructions for egress. The illuminated light bar is configurable for installation on left or right hand opening doors by electrically altering the pattern of internal illumination and assembling some parts in alternative configurations. The illuminated exit bar is compatible with electronic building security systems. The pattern of illuminated instructions can be remotely altered to reflect changed security conditions.

  • Publication number: 20040045798
Abstract: A high security switch employs cooperative magnets which define the mode characteristics of the switch. The polarities and/or pole orientations between various magnets of the assembly are selected so that momentary or maintain switch positions can be obtained.
