  • Patent number: 3964759
Abstract: The binding comprises two lateral arms; a retaining element; and a guidance system consisting of slopes and stops. The slopes are located on an element which is mobile in relation to the retaining element, in a manner such that, in certain positions of the mobile element, the guidance system is inoperative. The manual ski-removal lever is replaced with an element more easily manipulated by the skier, to enable him to remove the skis more rapidly. The device may also be adapted to certain variant bindings, so that they may open automatically in the absence of the boot.

  • Patent number: 3960384
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for providing resilient recoil in a binding in response to the stresses arising during skiing. The device comprises at least two springs arranged in series in a housing on baseplate on which a binding is mounted. A rod runs along the axis of the springs, and a head of the rod takes the thrust from the binding; one spring bears against the baseplate and a stop separates the two springs. This system acts to absorb stresses not intended to affect the release mechanism.

  • Patent number: 3942810
Abstract: A safety fixing device for skis permitting automatic re-centering of the ski boot on the longitudinal axis of the ski when fixing said device on the skier's feet while standing up, said device comprising a member adapted to retain one of the extremities of said boot and including a first ramp associated with said boot and a second ramp located on a catch member fixed on said ski, said catch having a portion which is movable between two positions, a first position in which the moving portion of said catch is raised with respect to the ski and a second position in which the moving portion of said catch is locked with respect to said ski, the transition from said first to said second position by the action of pressure of the boot being effected against the force of an elastic member by compressing this latter, the profile of the two ramps in a plane parallel to the ski and to the sole of the boot having substantially the forms of a concave and a convex curve opening out towards the same extremity of the ski, the

  • Patent number: 3942811
Abstract: The invention relates to a safety binding providing automatic recentering of the boot on the longitudinal axis of the ski and comprises a retaining element for one end of the boot, the element consisting of a catch cooperating with a slope and adapted to move, in relation to the ski, between two positions. The end of the boot also comprises, above the slope which cooperates with the catch, a sliding surface pointing in a downward direction and also cooperating with the catch when the latter rocks from the first to the second position. The binding allows the skier to put his skis on while he is standing up and without having to look at the boots.

  • Patent number: 3930659
Abstract: A ski brake for bringing a lost ski on a ski slope to a halt, comprises arms which pivot under spring action into an operative position in which a pointed front end of each arm digs into the snow when the ski boot leaves its bindings. Insertion of the ski boot in the binding causes a pedal to be depressed onto the ski and the pedal moves the arms back into an inoperative position almost parallel to the ski. The rear end of each arm is hollow and contains a spring-loaded piston which bears on a cam. In one embodiment the cam is fixed relative to the ski, and the piston and the arm pivot around the cam surface under the action of the spring when the pedal is released. In another embodiment the cam is part of the arm and forms a pivot mounted to rotate in a bearing in a part of the ski. The cam is pivotted by the spring-loaded piston which in this embodiment is slidably mounted in a sleeve fixed relative to the ski.
