  • Patent number: 9716926
Abstract: Systems and methods for remote query of weather conditions at an agricultural machine use an onboard telemetry unit as a gateway for communication with the machine. The telemetry unit can be coupled to both the machine's electrical system at the machine, and a machine's controller area network (CAN). A user can call up the machine's telemetry unit using a cell phone or personal computer to retrieve weather data such as temperature, humidity and rainfall from a weather station coupled to the machine. A system can provide an alert when a desired predetermined condition is present at a machine, for example an alert that a harvesting or baling condition is present. The system can also enable an operator or fleet manager to check the state of various devices or apparatus at a machine, enabling remote diagnostics via the onboard telemetry unit.

  • Publication number: 20170083026
Abstract: A system and method for performing an agricultural process involving a plurality of otherwise substantially independent agricultural machines, in which each machine is engaged in performing an aspect of the overall process. Each machine is placed in electronic communication with every other machine involved in the process using a standardized communication and control protocol such that the machines form a networked group. The performance of each machine is then, at least in part, substantially automatically synchronized with the performances of the other machines in the networked group based on relevant information electronically communicated by each machine. The machines may include unmanned agricultural implements, manned tractors, and trucks, and the system may be extended to include sensors and stations involved in the overall process. The protocol may be the ISO 11783 Compliant Implement Control standard, including the ISO 11783 Virtual Terminal standard.

  • Patent number: 9516364
Abstract: A source device determines content rights for encrypted content in the first encoding standard using a first rights data file. The source device creates a second rights data file for transcoded content in the second encoding standard. The source device performs a key management operation including communicating a decryption key for the encrypted content in the first encoding standard to a transcoder. The source device transfers the encrypted content in the first encoding standard to the transcoder. The transcoder decrypts the encrypted content, transcodes the content from the first encoding standard to the content in the second encoding standard, and re-encrypts the content in the second encoding standard using a second encryption key. The transcoder then transfers the encrypted content in the second encoding standard to an indicated device.

  • Publication number: 20160270290
Abstract: There is provided a system and method for determining the relative position of a header with respect to a chassis of a self-propelled agricultural harvester. Single or dual axis inclinometers are secured with respect to the header and the chassis respectively and signals generated thereby in combination with a stored relationship to header position are used to determine the header position, whether that be the pitch and/or the roll degrees of freedom. The use of inclinometers dispenses with the need for analogue sensors and mechanical linkages and provides a low cost solid state solution which is robust and reliable.
