  • Publication number: 20090118372
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for identifying an inhibitor of a biotin protein ligase. The method include the steps of (a) providing a substrate, wherein the substrate may be biotinylated; (b) contacting the substrate with biotin and a biotin protein ligase in the presence of a test compound; (c) determining the extent of biotinylation of the substrate by the biotin protein ligase in the presence of the test compound; and (d) identifying the test compound as an inhibitor of the biotin protein ligase by a reduction in the biotinylation of the substrate in the presence of the test compound as compared to the extent of biotinylation of the substrate in the absence of the test compound.

  • Patent number: 7404288
Abstract: Disclosed is a propulsion system having a structural configuration that provides easy and convenient access to the interior regions of a liquid fuel tank and a hybrid rocket motor case. The system operates with a high oxidizer-to-fuel ratio and a high bulk density propellant combination that has a near uniform specific impulse over a large oxidizer-to-fuel ratio range. The system has an increased propellant mass fraction and reduced propellant residuals. This improves the performance of the hybrid propulsion system.

  • Patent number: 7318575
Abstract: A form is disclosed for cooking items, such as pancakes, in a specified shape. The form may include a sidewall defining the specified shape. One or more handles may be attached to the sidewall to facilitate handling of the form. The handles may be configured to be folded and to reduce the amount of heat conducted through them. The form may be constructed by cutting an aluminum alloy material into strips. Holes may be formed in the ends of the strips and the strips may be heated for a specified time to soften them for being formed in the desired shape. The ends of the strips may be joined together using fasteners through the holes. Forms constructed in this manner may reduce the sticking of material to the forms, and the forms may be durable to last for repeated use over a long period of time.

  • Patent number: 7124163
Abstract: A data server for use in networks in which media signals are transmitted as digital signals in packet form comprises at least one shelf having at least one card whose purposes are to provide a shelf controller function and a media processor function, together with a plurality of backplane buses. The data server accesses media signals in packet form. Distributed software is distributed in the cards on the shelf, and consists of a modular software architecture having a transport layer, a media processing layer, a session control layer, and a management plane which spans across the other layers. A plurality of digital signal processors has a plurality of dynamically changeable discrete software objects so as to process packets of media data. The management plane provisions and monitors the operations of said data server, and gives alarms in keeping with predetermined criteria. There is at least one connection interface to a packet network from which media signals in media form are received.

  • Publication number: 20050226615
Abstract: A system and method for performing phase-encoded optical Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). A transmitter encodes digital data onto a wavelength of an optical signal using a codeword, splits the optical signal into a plurality of beams having separated frequency components, selectively phase-shifts the beams in accordance with the codeword, recombines the beams into the optical signal, and transmits the optical signal. The receiver receives the optical signal, splits the optical signal into a plurality of beams having separated frequency components, selectively phase-shifts the beams in accordance with the codeword, recombining the beams into the optical signal, and decodes the digital data from a wavelength of the optical signal using the codeword.
