Abstract: A method for providing media content-related information by using a device capable of accessing a server via a network is provided, the method comprising: generating identification information of media content being reproduced by the device; transmitting the identification information from the device to the server; receiving at least one of key information and media content-related information, from the server, in response to the identification information; and providing a user of the device with the media content-related information about the media content based on the at least one of the key information and the media content-related information received from the server.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing preferred broadcast information are provided. A Social Networking Service (SNS) server is requested to search for pieces of information in an SNS that are related to at least one broadcast channel by providing at least one keyword that identifies the at least one broadcast channel to the SNS server. The pieces of information are extracted from the SNS server. Preferred broadcast information is extracted from the pieces of information. The preferred broadcast information is provided to a user of the apparatus.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying an object from an image or context aware information and providing information about the identified object. The method includes identifying at least one object included in an image being displayed or to be displayed on a user device, obtaining relationship information of an identified object based on identification information of the identified object, and outputting the relationship information to at least one of the user device and a device of the identified object.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing information related to broadcast programs are provided. According to an example, objects are detected from broadcast scenes and keywords. Each of the objects include an object name and information regarding the meaning of the object, are generated. Then, scene sections are set based on the keywords and related information is searched for each scene section. The related information identified by the search is synchronized with the corresponding scene section and then provided to a user.

Abstract: A semantic-based searching apparatus and method which can search for desired information from various types of media using associative properties of search target objects are provided. The semantic-based searching apparatus stores an associative search structure that previously stores a semantic index. The associative search structure is to obtain a final search object corresponding to an input search query. The semantic index configuration includes feature metadata used to identify a specific object, semantic entity metadata to indicate semantic entities corresponding to the feature metadata, and semantic relation metadata to indicate a relation between the semantic entities. The semantic-based searching apparatus uses semantic metadata stored in conformity with the semantic index configuration, the semantic index, and the associative search structure to generate a search result corresponding to the input search query.

Abstract: A system and method of saving digital content classified by person-based clustering. The system for saving digital content classified by person-based clustering, includes a database to save a plurality of digital content classified by person-based clustering; a data structure generation unit to generate a data structure composed of a plurality of nodes using the plurality of digital content; a face recognition unit to extract a face descriptor of new digital content to be saved in the database; a cluster classification unit to classify the new digital content and the plurality of digital content by the person-based clustering using the extracted face descriptor, and a data structure update unit to update the data structure according to the classification.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a graphic user interface composed of a plurality of columns. The apparatus includes a command receiving unit, a determining unit, a display unit, and a transmitting/receiving unit. The command receiving unit receives a movement command or a selection command for a selector for selecting an item of at least one of the columns on the graphic user interface. The determining unit determines whether to activate items of the other columns associated with the selected item of a column. The display unit outputs the activated items of the other columns using the graphic user interface. The transmitting/receiving unit transmits a command message according to item selection with respect to the output activated columns.

Abstract: An apparatus usable with a flash memory as storage and a method of operating the same are provided, which can provide an optimized architecture to a flash memory through combination of a flash transition layer (FTL) with a database. The apparatus includes a flash memory, a device driver to manage a mapping table between logical addresses and physical addresses in accordance with a data operation in the flash memory, and a control unit to perform data recovery of the flash memory by requesting the mapping table through an interface provided by the device driver.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a terminal web service capable of being associated with data and/or native operations of a terminal while using a rich internet application are provided. The terminal apparatus includes a web application providing unit and a terminal web service providing unit. The web application providing unit discovers a terminal web service control script, which performs control to achieve association with respect to a terminal web service provided by the terminal apparatus, by executing a client script received from an external web server and to generate a hypertext transport protocol (HTTP) request message for requesting the terminal web service by use of the terminal web service control script. The terminal web service providing unit is configured to, upon reception of the HTTP request message, provide the terminal web service by sending the web application providing unit a HTTP reply message for providing reply information by the terminal web service.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating a mobile terminal by use of messages received to the mobile terminal are provided. The mobile terminal locating method may include creating at least one location related candidate for the mobile terminal by use of a message that is received to the mobile terminal, and determining a location of the mobile terminal by matching the created location related candidate to stored place information. The current location of the mobile terminal may be recognized by simply analyzing the received messages without the need for installation of additional device on the mobile terminal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for extracting advertisement keywords in association with situations of scenes of video include: establishing a knowledge database including a classification hierarchy for classifying situations of scenes of video and an advertisement keyword list, segmenting a video script corresponding to a received video in units of scenes, and determining a situation corresponding to each scene with reference to the knowledge database, and extracting an advertisement keyword corresponding to the situation of a scene of the received video with reference to the knowledge database.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for searching a handwritten memo, which is input by a user using a digital pen interface, for a word corresponding to the user's query. The apparatus includes a preprocessing unit which removes unnecessary portions from digital ink data of an input query phrase and an input memo to reduce an information amount, a feature extraction unit which extracts a feature vector from the digital ink data having the reduced information amount, and a query searching unit which searches the memo for a portion matched with the query phrase in units of segments. Therefore, an accurate result can be obtained quickly when an existing memo or document is searched for desired content by inputting a query phrase using a digital pen.

Abstract: A method of generating relevant information related to multimedia content at a client that reproduces the multimedia content includes accessing a blog service connected to the client, selecting the first content of the multimedia content, for which relevant information is to be generated, by using the blog service, generating the relevant information using a template according to the type of the relevant information generated with respect to the first content, and transmitting the generated relevant information to a server.

Abstract: Provided are a method of browsing a recorded news program and a browsing apparatus for performing the method. The method includes grouping moving picture news reports included in a plurality of news programs according to news report, and selecting one moving picture news report from among each of a plurality of groups according to preference information input by a user, thereby reproducing only a user desired part from contents of a moving picture news report. Thus, the method can be used to rapidly and efficiently browse the plurality of news programs.

Abstract: Provided are method of storing broadcast contents, a method of displaying stored broadcast contents and an apparatus therefor. In method of storing the broadcast contents by analyzing the received broadcast contents, grouping the contents that are similar to each other, and arranging the contents sequentially in time, the method includes classifying a broadcasting signal received from an external broadcast contents provider into an unit segment of a first item, determining at least one keyword representing the first item that is classified into the unit segment, storing the first item as a sub-ordinate item of a first sub contents group according to the determined keywords, and arranging the first sub contents group including the stored first item sequentially in time, so that the progress of specific broadcast contents can be easily identified by each time slot.

The method includes the operations of logging a broadcasting contents viewing behaviour pattern of the first user and generating a first user profile; transmitting the generated first user profile to an external server by using a network; receiving a recommendation result about one or more recommended broadcasting contents from the server, wherein a preference degree correlation between the first user profile and a second user profile of at least a second user registered in an account of the first user is reflected in the recommendation result; classifying the one or more recommended broadcasting contents in the received recommendation result into broadcasting timetable categories; and displaying on a screen a recommendation result about the classified one or more recommended broadcasting contents.
