  • Patent number: 5517368
Abstract: A processing system and a recording/reproducing system for a digital signal including a digital video signal and a digital audio signal are disclosed. Upon transmission, the digital signal is transmitted after time-base compression and modulation. The transmitted signal is received and demodulated. In the case where the signal is to be transmitted to a plurality of recording/reproducing systems, address signals designating ones of the plural recording/reproducing systems and a control signal for controlling the start/stop of recording are transmitted. The recording by the recording/reproducing system is controlled so that it is made with the same format in either normal-speed or high-speed mode or in either normal or multiple recording mode.

  • Patent number: 5501172
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of growing silicon single crystals by the Czochralski method, wherein the strength of a neck may be increased so as to delete the risk of severance thereof in a simple and easy way without the use of mechanically complex devices and thereby growing of a single crystal of a larger diameter and heavy weight is made practically possible. The method comprises the steps of: a single crystal being so grown from a seed crystal that the diameter of said single crystal gets gradually narrower until the length of a seed taper reaches 2.5 to 15 times the sectional size of the seed crystal; the diameter of a long near-cylindrical neck following the seed taper being so regulated that said diameter may be 0.09 to 0.9 times the sectional size of the seed crystal and 2.

  • Patent number: 5459585
Abstract: An apparatus for storing high definition image signals capable of processing high definition image signals and low definition image signals using the same apparatus. A storage medium is provided with an interface of low definition image signals. High definition image signals are compressed, transformed into a format according to the specifications of the interface of low definition image signals and are then stored in the storage medium. The compressed image signals taken out from the storage medium are subjected to the format reverse transform for expansion to restore the original high definition image signals. The format-transformed compressed high definition image signals and the compressed high definition image signals taken out from the storage medium are transmitted over a transmission medium via low definition image interface and are, as required, stored in the storage medium or put to other processings, and are then expanded to restore the original high definition image signals.

  • Patent number: 5258092
Abstract: The present invention is intended to provide a method of growing a silicon monocrystalline rod by an FZ process, wherein the dopant distribution of the silicon monocrystalline rod in the diametrical direction is made microscopically uniform, characterized in that a magnetic field forming means is arranged above and/or below a melting zone of said silicon monocrystalline rod to surround said silicon monocrystalline rod and a magnetic field is applied to the melting zone of the silicon monocrystalline rod through said magnetic forming means, and preferably the magnetic field forming means is constituted by supplying a direct electric current through a solenoid coil surrounding said silicon monocrystalline rod.

  • Patent number: 5247523
Abstract: A product code block generated by adding an outer code block and an inner code block to digital information signal arranged in matrix is received at least twice by a code error correction apparatus. In decoding the first received product code block by use of an inner code parity, an error flag is set for an inner code block having an uncorrectable error by an inner code parity. In decoding the second received product code block by use of an inner code parity, the error flag is referrenced so that an inner code block that could be correctly decoded or corrected in the second decoding of all the inner code blocks having an uncorrectable error in the first decoding is replaced by the second inner code block. Also, the check information such as a check sum is generated and stored each time of receiving, and an error flag is set for even an inner code block that could be corrected in either the first or second decoding, if the check sums for them fail to coincide with each other.

  • Patent number: 4813702
Abstract: The pitching motion of the vehicle can be suppressed by a pitch suppressing member interpositioned between a suspension upper and lower members. The pitch suppressing member is fixed to the suspension upper member and connected to the suspension lower member via upper and lower links. The pitch suppressing member and the upper and lower links are so connected that the pitching force will act on respective upper and lower links in opposite direction to provide opposite directions of rotational torques. Bushings interpositioned between the pitch suppressing member and upper and lower links are provided with enough rigidity or suppressing the pitching motion of the vehicle. On the other hand, bushings between the pitch suppressing member and the vehicle floor member are provided with enough flexibility for satisfactorily absorbing bounding and rebounding force due to road shock.

  • Patent number: 4668501
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for preparing a titanium oxide powder comprising heating titanium dioxide powder in an atmosphere of ammonia gas at a temperature of about 500.degree. C. to about 950.degree. C. The product powder is very fine, highly uniform in particle size and useful as an electrically conductive material. The powder is colored blue to black depending upon the process conditions and therefore is useful as a pigment, too.
