  • Patent number: 5119553
Abstract: A spring clip for binding a material, such as papers, is formed of a pair of grasping portions and a connection portion for connecting the grasping portions. Each grasping portion has a trapezoid form surrounded by front and rear edges and two side edges. Also, each grasping portion has a flat outer surface, a flat inner surface and an inclined end surface at a free end or the front edge. When the grasping portions abut against each other, the inclined end surfaces form a gap therebetween. The clip is applied to the material by a clip driver formed of a casing for receiving the clip, and a knob for pushing the clip. A pair of clip opening spring members is attached to the casing for opening the clip when applying the clip to the material.

  • Patent number: 4811884
Abstract: Disclosed is a stapler which comprises a main body portion having at its one end a staple accommodating portion provided with a staple drive-out opening, a pressing lever portion pivotally attached at its one end to the other end of the main body portion, and a base portion having a guide groove disposed at a position which comes in opposition to the staple drive-out opening for curving stapling leg portions of one staple so as to be close to each other. The staple drive-out opening is formed to be narrower in width at a lower staple driving-out side than an upper staple pressing side, whereby when the staple is driven out of the staple drive-out opening, the stapling leg portions of the staple is forcedly curved so as to make the respective free ends of the staple drive-out opening come into contact with each other while piercing into an object to be stapled. • Patent number: 4797143
Abstract: An improved process for the production of optical fiber porous preforms of predetermined refractive index distribution by the vapor-phase deposition method is disclosed wherein a glass material and a dopant material are subjected to flame oxidation by the use of an oxyhydrogen burner to form fine glass particles which are deposited on one end of a supporting rod adapted to move apart from the oxyhydrogen burner while rotating to allow a rod-like porous preform to grow thereon. The improved process is characterized in that the correlation between the shape of the deposition face and the refractive index distribution is previously determined mathematically, and on a basis of the correlation therebetween, a process variable such as the distance between the porous preform and the burner is adjusted to produce the desired shape of the deposition face whereby there can be obtained an optimum refractive index distribution.

  • Patent number: 4761074
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for measuring an impurity concentration of a liquid comprises atomizing step for atomizing the objective liquid, e.g. pure water, having a predetermined droplet size distribution, and an evaporating step for evaporating to dryness the droplets so as to generate fine particles. Those particles are fed to a condensation nuclei counter, hereinafter referred to as CNC, which counts the number of fine particles and has a specified sensitivity characteristic curve. Then impurity concentration of the objective liquid can be measured, since the concentration is related to the counted number of the CNC, the distribution of droplet size of the atomizer, and the sensitivity characteristic of the CNC including the particle deposition loss.

  • Patent number: 4353157
Abstract: A clip driver for driving such a type of clip as having opposing holding webs the front edges of which are resiliently pressed to each other to form lips for clipping sheets of paper or the like. The clip driver has a casing in which formed is a longitudinal guide way for guiding the clip, a clip driving member for driving the clip along the guide way and clip opening member with bifurcated inclined leg portions diverging toward the front end of the casing. In use, the clip is driven forwardly by the driving member so that lugs extending laterally from the holding webs slide along the diverging surfaces to forcibly open the clip overcoming the resilient pressing force to permit the sheets of paper or the like to be placed between two holding webs of the clip. As the clip is further driven forwardly, the lugs clear the guide surfaces of the clip opening member to allow the holding webs of the clip to be closed, thereby to clip the sheets of paper or the like.

  • Patent number: 4332060
Abstract: A spring clip having a pair of opposing flat holding members the leading ends of which are resiliently pressed against each other to clip sheets of paper or the like therebetween and opposing ear-like projections which extend widthwise from the side edges of the opposing holding member, respectively, and serve to open the leading ends of the holding members in cooperation with opening means of a special device for applicating clips. In contrast with a conventional spring clip of the same type, the disclosed clip has no levers pivoted to the leading ends of the holding members, which are used to open the leading ends of the holding members for the purpose of inserting therebetween the sheets to be clipped, and, therefore, is advantageous since the clipped sheets are not prevented by the levers from being turned up.
