  • Patent number: 7989511
Abstract: A process and apparatus for preparing a synthesis gas suitable for feeding to a suitable hydrocarbon production reactor, such as a Fischer Tropsch reactor is described. According to one aspect, the process and apparatus utilize heat exchangers that thermally integrate the reaction steps such that heat generated by exothermic reactions, e.g., combustion, are arranged closely to the heat sinks, e.g., cool methane, water and air, to minimize heat loss and maximize heat recovery. Effectively, this thermal integration eliminates excess piping throughout, reduces initial capital and operating costs, provides built-in passive temperature control, and improves synthesis gas production efficiencies.

  • Publication number: 20080092137
Abstract: A method and system for managing peripheral connection wakeup signaling in a processing system supporting multiple virtual machines provides a mechanism by which ownership of a peripheral having system wakeup capability is transferred between virtual machines. The power management event signal is connected to a service processor input that in turn signals a hypervisor to direct the wakeup activity to a particular logical partition in which the virtual machine was last executing. The hypervisor can then determine whether or not to wake up the entire system, or portions thereof and can direct the power management event to the appropriate virtual machine. In particular the peripheral may be an Ethernet adapter supporting Wake-On-LAN capability. State initialization, which is typically ensured by system power cycling is provided instead by controlling power to the standby power source or in some instances by forcing an indication of a disconnect/reconnect of the wakeup signaling connection.

  • Publication number: 20080042171
Abstract: Methods of forming transistor arrangements using alternating phase shift masks are provided. The mask may include two parallel opaque lines, a first transparent section separating the opaque lines and a second transparent section in the rest. The second transparent section may shift the phase with respect to the first transparent section by 180 degree. A phase conflict occurs along an edge between the first and the second transparent sections. A semiconductor substrate is patterned via the mask and, from the opaque lines functional active areas of a transistor pair and from the phase conflict edge, thereby resulting in a parasitic area. A separation gate is provided that is capable of switching off a parasitic transistor being formed within the parasitic area. Channel widths may be stabilized and maximized within dense transistor arrangements, for example, in a multiplexer portion of a sense amplifier arrangement for memory cell arrays.
