  • Publication number: 20020183797
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing noise and detecting electrode faults in a physiological activity acquisition system. The method includes the act of delivering a carrier signal through an electrode connected to a subject. Once the carrier signal is delivered, a combined signal having an electrical-activity portion and a carrier-signal portion is sensed by at least one signal sensing electrode attached to the subject. A low-pass, finite impulse response filter, having a first zero point frequency substantially the same as the carrier signal, separates the carrier signal portion from the electrical activity portion. An impedance value for the sensing electrode is calculated using the carrier signal portion. The calculated impedance value is compared against a known value to determine whether an electrode fault exists.

  • Patent number: 6487449
Abstract: A system and apparatus for detecting electrode faults in a physiological activity acquisition system or device. The system includes at least one signal sensing electrode attached to the subject and a signal processor coupled to the at least one signal sensing electrode. The signal sensing electrode senses a combined signal from the subject. The combined signal has an activity portion and a carrier portion. The signal processor receives the combined signal from the electrode. The signal processor processes the combined signal and generates a noise-redeuced ECG and an electrode fault signal, if an electrode fault exists.

  • Patent number: 5946860
Abstract: A pane guide for a spherically curved window pane which can be lowered in a door shaft of a vehicle door and forms a component part of an imaginary barrel shaped sleeve surface along the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and which can be moved in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the vehicle by a double-strand cable window lift mounted in the door shaft. The guide rails have a first and second curvature adapted to the window pane curvature in the transverse direction of the vehicle so that a swivel movement about a swivel point spaced from a guide edge of the window pane in the X-direction is additionally superimposed on the displacement movement of the window pane. The imaginary barrel-shaped sleeve face on which the window pane is displaced swivels with the window pane and during the displacement movement between the extreme positions there are always three corner points of the window pane lying on the barrel-shaped sleeve face.

  • Patent number: 5673515
Abstract: The invention concerns a two-strand cable window regulator for motor vehicles having two guide rails which is specifically designed to control spherically curved windows. The invention ensures exact conformity with a predefined raising/lowering path with extremely different radii of curvature of the window at the locations of the two guide rails. The present invention ensures exact conformity by modifying the travel distance of the window near at least one guide rail such that the travel distance of the window is either larger or smaller than the distance traveled by the respective carrier connected to the guide rail.

  • Patent number: 5468143
Abstract: An infrared heater, especially for construction purposes or for animal brooders in which the air duct passes through the reflector on the side of a glow body turned away from the surface to be irradiated so that the air duct is heated by the glow body. Within the heated region of the air duct, a filter is provided which is heated to red heat, thereby pyralizing or burning off deposits and maintaining the filter free from obstruction for long periods.

  • Patent number: 4932411
Abstract: An intervivo probe for a nuclear magnetic resonance tomographic apparatus has a measuring coil carried at one end of a thin plastic carrier, the coil having a cross-sectional area in the range of approximately a few square millimeters and a length of approximately 10 to 20 mm. The measuring probe is inserted in body organs, such as the brain, liver and kidney by means of cannulae or channels which have been surgically or otherwise inserted in the organ for other purposes.

  • Patent number: 4816764
Abstract: A method for identifying nuclear magnetic spectra from spatially selectable regions of an examination subject obtains an optimally unattenuated FID signal by the steps of cancelling the magnetization present due to the fundamental magnetic field in volume regions of the examination subject which are not to be evaluated, subjecting the examination subject to a non-selective RF read-out pulse which deflects at least the nuclear spins in the examination regions to be selected, and reading out the resulting FID signal following the non-selective RF read-out pulse. The selected examination region is determined by the transmission/reception characteristics of the coil which receives the FID signal minus the selectively saturated volume region.

  • Patent number: 4748012
Abstract: A process for reducing the nitrogen oxide content in waste gases of combustion installations is disclosed. The present process is a catalytic reduction with ammonia wherein the nitrogen oxide-containing waste gases are conducted past temperature-resistant structures which are coated with a mixture of one or more aluminosiliciates of the faujasite group, silica sol and/or silicates and a copper compound.

  • Patent number: 4263561
Abstract: For the common mode rejection in an amplifier arrangement comprising preferably a plurality of operational amplifiers for a plurality of desired signals to be processed, which signals are superimposed by a stronger spurious signal, it is an object to supply the desired signals such as physiological measuring signals for EEG and EKG measurements at positive inputs of the respectively associated single amplifiers, while each negative input is connected to the junction of a voltage divider consisting of two resistors, which voltage divider is arranged between the respective amplifier output and a reference potential.

  • Patent number: 3950183
Abstract: In the production of annealed products such as inorganic pigments wherein pigment-forming starting materials are mixed, optionally with the addition of auxiliary substances, thereafter annealed, optionally ground, washed and then dried, the improvement which comprises adding water to the mixture of pigment-forming materials to form an aqueous suspension containing at least about 10% by weight of H.sub.2 O, and applying said suspension to the surface of a hearth which has been heated to at least about 500.degree.C, thereby to heat said materials and to effect annealing. Advantageously the hearth is a horizontal, flat ring rotating about its center and in the course of one rotation of the ring the applied material is heated to the temperature of formation of the desired annealed product, calcined and removed from the surface of the ring before the one rotation has been completed.
