Publication number: 20040230156Abstract: A method for treating vulnerable plaque by crosslinking the fibrous cap, or collagenous extra cellular matrix layer, on the inner wall or vascular intima of the vessel. The method includes providing a vascular catheter, delivering a crosslinking agent to the extra cellular matrix layer with the vascular catheter, and irradiating the extra cellular matrix layer and crosslinking agent with light energy emitted from the vascular catheter. The crosslinking agent may be a saccharide, Riboflavin or Riboflavin-5-phosphate, or a photooxidizer. The irradiation energy is emitted from one or more LEDs mounted on the catheter. Catheter balloons are used to clear the optical path of blood so that short wavelength light can be used. The balloons may also be used to facilitate delivery of the crosslinking agent to the extra cellular matrix layer. A perfusion lumen ensures continuous blood flow during the procedure.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2003Publication date: November 18, 2004Inventors: Stefan Georg Schreck, Erich Horst Wolf, Ross Tsukashima

Publication number: 20030051506Abstract: A method for producing glass balls, wherein a glass flow is fed between two rollers which are driven synchronously but counter-rotatingly in a flow direction, from a feed tank containing a mass of molten glass. The rollers have hemispherical depressions distributed over the circumference and form spherical beads on a thin glass strip successively in the region of an imaginary contact tangent. A thickness of the glass strip is fixed by the spacing between the rollers externally of the depressions in the region of the contact tangent. Crude balls are separated from the glass strip by a separating device, once the glass strip, containing the spherical beads, is cooled. The crude balls are subjected to a cold surface finishing treatment.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2002Publication date: March 20, 2003Inventors: Hatto Schafer, Christian Schenk, Horst Wolf, Andreas Walsdorf

Patent number: 4893460Abstract: A belt type spindle drive apparatus for textile machines of the type having a plurality of simultaneously driven aligned spindles arranged in at least one row. An endless belt extends in driving engagement along the spindles and is driven by a plurality of belt driving devices. In one embodiment, the belt driving devices have drive rollers offset from the spindle rows and coaxial overlapping input and output rollers that guide the belt to and from the drive roller between adjacent spindles. The paths of the belt entering and leaving the drive devices are offset. When an uneven number of devices is used, a pair of canted auxiliary rollers are used to make the number of belt path offsets even. To accommodate the offset of the guide rollers, one or the other guide rollers can be canted toward the drive roller or the drive roller can be canted. Alternatively, adjacent drive devices can have the same offset relationship and the belt path can be inclined from one drive device to the other.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1989Date of Patent: January 16, 1990Assignee: Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbHInventor: Horst Wolf

Patent number: 4773208Abstract: A process for operation of an approximately horizontal suction duct used for removal of broken fragments of thread or roving from a spinning machine and a suction apparatus for performing that process. In the process of my invention the suction capacity of the suction duct is made adjustable for joint adjustment of the suction at all of the suction intakes connected to it. Thus to reduce energy consumption this suction capacity can be set to a considerably lower value during normal operation than during doffing or batch changing where it is desirable to use the maximum rated suction capacity. The adjusting means for changing the suction capacity of the suction duct comprises advantageously a throttling means such as an automatically controllable plate mounted downstream from the suction intakes of the suction duct or a selector switch for providing different voltages to the winding terminals of an electric motor of an air blower mechanism to directly change the suction capacity.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1986Date of Patent: September 27, 1988Assignee: Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbHInventor: Horst Wolf

Patent number: 4738095Abstract: The process for operation of a spinning or twisting machine calls for a plurality of working units which are concentrated in groups with at least one motor and tangential belt. The spinning or twisting machine has a different total power need based on different total numbers of working units and/or use of working units with different individual power needs. Independently of the total power need of the spinning or twisting machine, all the motors have the same dimensions. The number of motors are selected so that the sum of the nominal power output of the motors at least approximately corresponds to the total power need of the spinning or twisting machine. Each of the motors are associated with a number of the working units such that the sum of the individual power need of the working units corresponds at least approximately to the nominal power of the motor.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1986Date of Patent: April 19, 1988Assignee: Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbHInventor: Horst Wolf
