  • Patent number: 4359858
Abstract: A yarn-body core is supported by an upright spindle adjacent a vertically displaceable yarn guide through which a yarn to be wound passes to the core. The core and spindle are rotated and simultaneously the guide is displaced upwardly along the core to wind the yarn on the core until an instant when a yarn package having a predetermined size is formed on the core. Thereafter the guide is lowered to a level below the core while the spindle continues to rotate to wind several turns of the yarn on the spindle below the core. The rotation rate of the spindle and the core is decreased to a relatively low level prior to the instant when the yarn package is completely formed and thereafter this rotation rate is decreased to a standstill in accordance with a predetermined program starting at the instant the yarn package is fully formed and ending when several turns have been wounded on the spindle.

  • Patent number: 4336684
Abstract: An assembly of motors designed to drive a ring rail, a bank of spindles and a plurality of draw or delivery rollers in a ring spinning or twisting machine is supplied with three-phase current of a frequency determined by the settings of digitally adjustable frequency selectors independently controlling respective solid state frequency-inverters assigned to the several motors or groups of motors. The selectors include frequency dividers in the output of a common and preferably also adjustable source of timing signals which may be a free-running oscillator or a pulse generator driven by one of the motors acting as a master.

  • Patent number: 4314388
Abstract: An assembly of fiber-drawing rollers, used for stretching rovings or fiber bundles in a spinning machine, is divided into a plurality of stages each including an elongate driven roller and a set of coacting counterrollers, the driven rollers being rotated at predetermined relative speeds with the aid of several motors including at least one pair of synchronous motors positively coupled with a drawing roller at opposite ends thereof. These synchronous motors are energized with three-phase current of a frequency determined by the setting of a digitally adjustable frequency selector controlling a solid-state frequency inverter. The selector comprises a frequency divider in the output of a preferably also adjustable source of timing signals which may be a pulse generator driven by a motor coupled with another drawing roller.

  • Patent number: 4161862
Abstract: A long spinning machine, preferably a ring spinning machine, with a plurality of drawing means, which serve to draw the fiber strands with the drawing means being arranged adjacent to each other and extending lengthwise of the machine the drawing lower rollers of the drawing means formed by a plurality of long roller lines positively connected together at one point by drive gear transmissions which provide predetermined rpm ratios between the roller lines with some of the roller lines connected together by additional drive gear transmission at least at one additional point spaced from the one point to eliminate or substantially reduce torsion in the roller lines.

  • Patent number: 4160940
Abstract: An induction motor of the squirrel-cage type is driven from a polyphase power line through the intermediary of two cascaded thyristor arrays converting the line current into an adjustable rectified current and reconverting the latter into a stator current of variable frequency. The magnitude of the rectified current is varied via the first thyristor array, under the control of a tachometric signal from a speed sensor coupled with the rotor of the machine, to maintain the rotor speed at a selected level within a predetermined dynamic range in which the stator current varies approximately in proportion to the slip frequency under changing load. The slip frequency is adjusted by the second thyristor array under the control of an arithmetic unit which receives the tachometric signal along with a voltage feedback from the stator input and which maintains the stator voltage substantially proportional to rotor speed in order to stabilize the excitation current of the motor.

  • Patent number: 4103210
Abstract: A draw twisting machine is provided with a plurality of synchronous motors which drive respective draw rollers. The synchronous motors are supplied with electrical power from an A.C. generator having a variable frequency output. The A.C. generator is driven by a D.C. motor which is operatively arranged to run at variable angular velocity (rpm), the velocity being steplessly variable over a wide range. The D.C. motor may be driven at a crawl speed by an asynchronous electric motor via a transmission and overriding clutch.
