  • Patent number: 6665626
Abstract: A network-based computer testing system performs a concurrent testing procedure on computer products for quality assurance before shipment. The testing system comprises a communication port expander, an administrator, a network system, a product database, and a file server, and is characterized in that it allows the computer products being tested to be linked to the network system by means of a standard communication interface rather than a dedicated network interface. All the required testing files and associated data files are stored in the file server, so that they can be automatically downloaded to each computer product being tested via the network system and under control by the administrator.

  • Patent number: 6650757
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting unwanted noise includes a reference sensor that generates a reference signal in response to stimulation by a source. A combined noise detector picks up a combined noise signal, which includes both background noise and the unwanted noise generated by the source. A noise separation synthesis device filters both signals to generate a coherent unwanted noise signal from the combined noise signal as a function of the reference signal generated by the reference sensor. A comparator determines the presence of unwanted noise by calculating the Kurtosis value of the coherent unwanted noise signal.

  • Publication number: 20030135598
Abstract: A server system and method is proposed for use with an automatic storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) to allow a user to perform AS/RS controls and access related inventory management data. The proposed AS/RS server system and method is characterized by the use of a point-to-point multiplex communication interface, such as a TCP/IP communication interface, instead of SQL server as in the case of the prior art, for performing data transmission between the control platform and the main server. The SQL server is only used for storing the history of user-issued commands and related AS/RS operating status data. Compared to the prior art, the proposed AS/RS server system and method allows the utilization of DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) modules for control of the data exchange among the main server, the SQL server, and the control platform, so that it can be implemented without the use of QEOBDC drivers, thereby eliminating the problems caused by the use of QEOBDC driver in the prior art.

  • Publication number: 20030120629
Abstract: A method and a system for downloading data from an auto-storage database are proposed, allowing a server to perform one-time data retrieval for transmitting data to terminal devices that request for data downloading. Upon receiving a connection request from a terminal device, the server stores an IP address of the terminal device into an IP address temporary storage area, Then, the server starts timing, and performs one-time data retrieval for retrieving data from a database if counted time reaches a preset time value pre-stored in the server. The retrieved data is transmitted by the server to the terminal device whose IP address is stored in the IP address temporary storage area, and then the terminal device requests for terminating the connection to the server for stopping data transmission. The foregoing method and system are advantageous of not to occupy too much network bandwidth even in operation of many terminal devices.

  • Publication number: 20030120738
Abstract: A method for integrating multiple web servers based on individual client authorization consists of setting up a client, a master web server, and at least one slave web server through a network such that after the said master web server receives commands inputted by the said client, an authentication routine relative to the said client is executed based on the said commands to determine the individual authorization level of the said client and web pages are collected from the said master server and slave web that the client is permitted to browse based on the said individual authorization level and, furthermore, web pages are respectively displayed via a specific screen model on the computer system of the said client.

  • Publication number: 20030101185
Abstract: A method for synchronously updating screen data of database application program at clients over network utilizes a reference table installed in a server of a network system to record filenames of databases in the server opened by the clients over the network, therefore when one client updates data of the database, the client will read the reference table for identifying the filenames of the databases opened by other clients, transmitting the updated data to the other clients and synchronously updating data of corresponding fields on a screen of the database application program at the other clients.

  • Publication number: 20030093238
Abstract: A network-based computer testing system is proposed, which can be used to perform a concurrent testing procedure on a batch of computer products, such as notebook computers, for quality assurance of the notebook computers before they are shipped to the market. The proposed network-based computer testing system comprises a communication port expander, an administrator, a network system, a product database, and a file server. The proposed network-based computer testing system is characterized in that it allows the computer units being tested to be linked to the network system by means of a standard communication interface, such as RS-232, USB, or IEEE-1394, rather than a dedicated network card. Moreover, all the required testing files and associated data files are stored in the file server, so that they can be automatically downloaded to each computer unit being tested via the network system and under control by the administrator.

  • Publication number: 20030084028
Abstract: Method for storing records in database or reading the same therefrom comprising editing data of non-indexed field of a conventional database as a string of comment characters through a conversion table so as to store the same in a remark field of the database of the invention; and showing contents of data of the non-indexed field on a screen of the database by referring to the conversion table in reading the string of comment characters contained in the remark field of the database.

  • Publication number: 20030078925
Abstract: A method and a system for reading authorized data are proposed. With a network connection established among a system for reading authorized data, a terminal device and an application service provider, the system for reading authorized data allows a user at the terminal device to obtain data generated by operating an application program system of the application service provider, wherein the system for reading authorized data is pre-formed with a database used for storing the data generated by operating the application program system. Therefore, the user merely submits a data-reading request to the system for reading authorized data, which retrieves data requested by the user from the database. In the foregoing method and system, no startup program of the application service provider is necessarily installed in the terminal device, so that cost in purchasing authorization for using the application program system and load of the application program system are decreased.

  • Patent number: 5679073
Abstract: A door assembly for controlling air flow through a motor vehicle climate control system includes a door panel having a pair of opposed faces and a terminal edge. A seal member is attached to at least one of the pair of opposed faces and has a terminal edge generally disposed along the terminal edge of the panel. A film member overlies the seal member and also has a terminal edge generally disposed along the terminal edge of the panel. The terminal edge of the film member is substantially non-linear such that noise produced by air flow passing around the terminal edge of the panel is minimized.
