  • Patent number: 8831764
Abstract: A package coding system for a cigarette manufacturing process is provided. An imprinting device imprints an alphanumeric code on each of a series of cigarette packages. A conveyor device conveys the cigarette packages in a feed direction. An inspection device is operably engaged with the conveyor device and inspects the alphanumeric code imprinted on each cigarette package conveyed by the conveyor device to determine whether any of the cigarette packages includes a defect in the imprinted alphanumeric code, and thus comprises a defective cigarette package. A removal device is operably engaged with the conveyor device and is configured to be in communication with the inspection device. The removal device is configured to remove the defective cigarette package from the series of cigarette packages conveyed by the conveyor device in response to identification thereof by the inspection device. An associated method is also provided.

  • Patent number: 8805879
Abstract: Techniques used in a system for collaborative work which gives collaborators unskilled in data processing technologies access to a variety of information resources to provide the collaborators with information resources which are obtained in response to parameterized information requests such as queries. The techniques use records in database tables to represent a class of parameterized information requests. Information for instances of the class includes queries that may be used in the instances and default values for bind parameters in the queries. Values for the bind parameters may also be specified for classes of user interfaces that employ the information sources returned by the parameterized information requests and for instances of the user interface. A user may also use specify values for bind parameters in his or her instance of the user interface.

  • Publication number: 20140177086
Abstract: A disk drive is described with a single servo master timer that is used to control timing critical signals such as servo gate, SAM windows, channel power save, PREAMP power save and so on. The master timer is adjusted to compensate for SAM detection errors (early, late or missed) and provides improved servo timing quality. In an embodiment the adjustable master timer can be selectably clocked by either the DLC/DSW clock or the system clock.

  • Patent number: 8664595
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for determining the mineral content represented by the entire SEM-EDS dataset, including initially unknown data points. SEM-EDS data points are taken and compared to a set of known data points. Any data point that is not sufficiently similar to the known data point is classified as unknown and clustered with like unknown data points. After all data points are analyzed, any clusters of unknown data points with a sufficient number of data points are further analyzed to determine their characteristics. All clusters of unknown data points with an insufficient number of data points to allow further analysis are considered outliers and discarded.

  • Publication number: 20130090757
Abstract: In a supplying system using containers for supplying groups of filter elements to smoking article assembling equipment, each container has a unique source of information that travels with the container. An unloader receives and unloads the containers. An automated data reader is proximate the unloader for reading the source of information for each container before it is unloaded. A computerized controller uses the information read by the automated data reader to obtain information from a database. The information from the database is compared to information from another source to verify that the proper filter elements are being supplied. The computerized controller allows, or instructs, the unloader to unload correctly supplied filter elements, and stops the unloader from unloading incorrectly supplied filter elements.

  • Patent number: 8326173
Abstract: Hard imaging devices, humidity control systems and hard imaging methods are described. According to one arrangement, a hard imaging device includes an imaging member comprising a surface and a writing assembly configured to form latent images upon the surface of the imaging member. The hard imaging device also includes a development assembly configured to provide a marking agent to the surface of the imaging member to develop the latent images to form developed images, a transfer assembly configured to transfer the developed images from the surface of the imaging member to media to form a plurality of hard images, and a humidity control system configured to control humidity within a region of the hard imaging device which is adjacent to the surface of the imaging member during the forming and the development of the latent images. Other structure and methods are described.

  • Patent number: 8082301
Abstract: A system includes a processor which has access to a representation of model of activity, which includes workspaces. Each workspace includes domain hierarchies for representing an organizational structure of the collaborating users using the system, and initiatives hierarchies representing process structures for accomplishing goals. An interface permits users to view and modify the workspaces for which the user has access. Each user can have different access permissions in different workspaces. The domain and initiative hierarchies provide two views of the workspace objects without duplicating resources. A resource is a collection of shared elements defined by the users that give users associated with the workspace access to information sources. Users can define knowledge boards for creating reports based on information fields of the resources. The knowledge board is associated with a resource template from which the resource is created.

  • Publication number: 20100318511
Abstract: Improved techniques for using connectors in a system for collaborative work for users unskilled in data processing techniques, including UI techniques. Data may be augmented by associating a connector query to obtain additional data and the data viewed in a “drill down” fashion, or by associating an additional resource for entering additional data by clicking on a link: the additional resource is created as needed and is a full-fledged resource of the system. A number of other connector queries may be combined into a single query that composes them, and information from different information sources may be combined easily, such as to make the form consistent; the information may also be transformed in a complex fashion. An alternative source for an information result may be used by a connector query to optimize performance, such as a cached result.

  • Publication number: 20030115571
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tool and a method for constructing a software application from a model representation. The method first involves reading the model representation before identifying in the model representation a plurality of software modules. The method then identifies a programming language for each one of the plurality of software modules. After identification of the different programming languages, the method compiles each one of the plurality of software modules into machine language using a software compiler. It is to be noted that the software compiler corresponds to the identified programming language. The methods finally links the compiled plurality of software modules into the software application. The tool comprises an interpreting module for identifying a plurality of programming languages in a source code listing and a calling module for compiling the source code listing into machine language.
