  • Publication number: 20190215684
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, identifying an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) for a first mobile device, wherein the IMSI comprises fifteen digits. Further embodiments can include generating a first integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID). In addition, embodiments can include determining a match between the first ICCID and a second ICCID for a second mobile device and adjusting the first ICCID responsive to determining the match. Also, the embodiments can include transmitting the adjusted first ICCID. Transmitting the adjusted first ICCID facilitates a SIM manufacturer to provision a SIM with the first ICCID to a first mobile device to provide communication services. Other embodiments are described in the subject disclosure.

  • Patent number: 10264517
Abstract: Battery life of a user equipment (UE) can be extended when the UE is roaming internationally in a country that has multiple carrier networks each utilizing multiple public land mobile network (PLMN) identifiers. Scan control tables, stored in a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) of the UE, are populated with the identifiers of a PLMN having the highest priority in a defined area (e.g., Circle). A roaming control applet of the UICC can compare serving cell data with the scan control tables to determine if the UE is to perform a higher priority (HP) PLMN search. Utilization of the scan control table avoids unnecessary searches for HPPLMNs that are unavailable in the UE's current location and accordingly extends battery life of the UE.

  • Publication number: 20180103415
Abstract: Blind selection of a multi-frequency band indicator (MFBI) channel is disclosed. The crowded wireless spectrum can comprise overlapping bands, e.g., LTE bands 17 and 12. Whereas current standards allow setting the E-UTRA frequency to only one absolute radio-frequency channel number, alternative channel information can be distributed via SIB message. However, where a UE cannot read the MFBI information in a SIB message, the UE can be ignorant of a channel in an alternative band. Channel information for an alternative band can be sent to the UE as part of a radio resource control RRC message, for example, comprising a dEUTRACarrierFreqInfo value. The RRC connection release message can cause the UE to release a connection and then reestablish a new connection based on the channel information for then alternative band. This can allow mobile devices that do not support MFBI via SIB, to access channels in MFBI-type bands.

  • Patent number: 9699693
Abstract: An architecture is described that can provide enhancement with respect to circuit switched fall back. In particular, the architecture can reduce the signaling and delay of conventional systems that are necessitated by establishing a radio resource control connection prior to establishing the circuit switched fall back connection. For example, when user equipment is not in a radio resource control connected state at the time of a circuit switched fall back call, the radio resource control connection can be at least partially avoided by responding to a radio resource control connection request message with a radio resource control connection reject message that includes target cell reselection information.

  • Patent number: 9603070
Abstract: A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may include, for example, responsive to a determination that a first communication session is in a first state and a first sub-state, monitoring for an active timer associated with the first sub-state, where the first state and the first sub-state are defined by a communications protocol. The system can, responsive to a detection of the active timer, monitor for a packet switching service initiation request generated by the applications processor. The system can, responsive to detecting the packet switching service initiation request, temporarily prevent the packet switching service initiation request from being transmitted by the transceiver. Other embodiments are disclosed.
