Publication number: 20130160872Abstract: A thermal pressure relief device (TPRD) is shown and includes a housing having a first end with a first aperture and a second end having a second aperture. The first and second apertures are configured to allow a fluid to flow through the housing. The TPRD includes a trigger member, such as a ball, disposed within the housing. The ball is seated laterally within a retainer. The retainer includes a rim forming a seat for supporting the ball within the housing. The movement of the ball from the first closed position laterally seated within the retainer to the second open position descended within the retainer is caused by an expansion of the rim of the retainer. The rim of the retainer is formed substantially of a temperature sensitive material adapted to expand volumetrically with an increase in temperature. The temperature sensitive material can expand linearly or non-linearly.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 27, 2011Publication date: June 27, 2013Applicant: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATION LLCInventor: Jörg Schulze

Patent number: 8275979Abstract: Technique for initializing a data processing system. Sequences of initialization steps for selected functional hardware elements of a data processing system are defined and dependencies between the initialization steps are determined. These definition steps are preferably performed during the design and development of the data processing system. The sequences of initialization steps and their dependencies are represented in a single control flow table. This control flow table is then analyzed by a system management controller during an initialization phase of the data processing system. The sequences are associated with selected functional hardware elements and for each associated sequence of initialization steps the system management controller generates and executes a parallel thread of execution.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2007Date of Patent: September 25, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Walter Nicklaus, Ralf Schaufler, Joerg Schulze

Publication number: 20120046782Abstract: In a method for producing at least one surface on a workpiece by a material removal tool and a corresponding material removal device, the surface is produced quickly and at low cost. Based on any surface to be produced, a movement path of the material removal tool is controlled to produce a ruled surface approximating to the surface, the movement path being provided in the form of a curve on a dual unit sphere, wherein a curve point corresponds to a location and an orientation of the removal tool. The curve can be produced based on ruling lines, which are converted into points, interpolated by a dual sphere spline interpolation algorithm, on the dual unit sphere by mathematical transformations. The curve can then be transformed back or can be used directly to follow the material removal tool. Likewise, directrix curves can be determined by the dual sphere spline interpolation algorithm.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2010Publication date: February 23, 2012Inventors: Jörg Schulze, Yayun Zhou

Patent number: 7101812Abstract: A process for forming and/or modifying dielectric films on semiconductor substrates is disclosed. According to the present invention, a semiconductor wafer is exposed to a process gas containing a reactive component. The temperature to which the semiconductor wafer is heated and the partial pressure of the reactive component are selected so that, sometime during the process, diffusion of the reactive components occurs through the dielectric film to the film/semiconductor substrate interface. Further, diffusion also occurs of semiconductor atoms through the dielectric film to an exterior surface of the film. The process of the present invention has been found well suited to forming and/or modifying very thin dielectric films, such as films having a thickness of less than 8 nm.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2003Date of Patent: September 5, 2006Assignee: Mattson Technology, Inc.Inventors: Ignaz Eisele, Alexandra Ludsteck, Jörg Schulze, Zsolt Nenyei, Waltraud Dietl, Georg Roters

Patent number: 6528433Abstract: The novel method allows monitoring of nitrogen processes by making use of the fact that the incorporation of nitrogen near the surface in silicon, or in a thin silicon nitride layer on the silicon surface, inhibits the diffusion of oxygen during the subsequent thermal oxidation. Accordingly, the oxidation rate of the thermal oxidation is reduced and the growth of the oxide layer on the silicon surface is inhibited. The thickness of the oxide layer is thus used as a measure for the nitrogen content, i.e., for the quality of the nitrogen process.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2001Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Assignee: Infineon Technologies AGInventors: Thomas Gärtner, Alexandra Lamprecht, Dietmar Ottenwälder, Jörg Schulze
