Abstract: A semiconductor device fabrication method includes forming first and second spaced apart base regions and source regions in a substrate with a portion of a drift region therebetween. The method further includes forming at least a first trench extending laterally through the base region, the drift region and the source region, the first trench extending vertically partially through the source region. The method also includes forming a first oxide layer over the trenched upper surface, and forming a polysilicon layer over the first oxide layer. The polysilicon layer is patterned to form the gate conductor, and a drain contact is formed on a bottom surface of the semiconductor substrate.

Abstract: A quick release die block system for the gripper of a backup wrench is disclosed. The quick release die block system can include a die block releasably coupled to a die block support. A lock mechanism can include one or more lock pins moveably supported and can be operable with the die block and the die block support, The lock mechanism can also include a lock mechanism interface accessible via a passage in the die block, and can be adapted to releasably secure the die block to the die block support.

Abstract: In one aspect of the disclosure, a semiconductor package is disclosed. The semiconductor package includes a lead frame. A semiconductor die is attached to a first side of the lead frame. A protective shell covers at least a first portion of the first surface of the semiconductor die. The protective shell comprises of ink residue. A layer of molding compound covers an outer surface of the protective shell and exposed portion of the first surface of the semiconductor die. A cavity space is within an inner space of the protective shell and the first portion of the top surface of the semiconductor die.

Abstract: We disclose a kit and associated method for mounting a flat panel light fixture to a surface. The kit includes: a flat panel light fixture having opposing front panel and rear panels, a light-emitting element, fixture wires for electrically connecting the light-emitting element to household wires, and fixture-mounting openings extending through the fixture; a quick-connect unit for mounting to a junction box installed within the surface and for electrically connecting the fixture wires to the household wires; a tether for suspending the fixture from the junction box; and a plurality of attachment members configured to extend through the openings within the fixture and into the surface to secure the fixture to the surface in a first position wherein the fixture is spaced from the surface and a second position wherein the fixture is mounted in contact with the surface.

Abstract: Techniques of managing heat within an electronic device involve routing a flexible cable or a set of flexible cables within the electronic device to deliver heat to desired locations within the electronic device. Advantageously, it is possible to distribute heat uniformly while using existing components, thus not adding significantly to cost. Furthermore, the flexible cables may be routed in any way that accomplishes it goals of distributing heat and/or electricity.

Abstract: A head mounted display device may include a housing, including a user-facing cavity and an electronics compartment. At least one fan may be installed in the electronics compartment. A plurality of intake ports may be defined in a peripheral wall portion of the user-facing cavity, and at least one air discharge port may be defined in a wall portion of the electronics compartment. A plurality of air channels may extend between the user-facing cavity and the electronics compartment. Operation of the at least one fan may draw external air into the housing through the plurality of air intake ports into the user—facing cavity, and into the electronics compartment through the plurality of air channels, for discharge from the housing through the at least one discharge port, to provide cooling of the user-facing cavity and the electronics compartment.

Abstract: Methods and systems for securing a data connection for communicating between two end-points are described herein. One of the end-points may be a server and the other of the end-points may be a client that wants to communicate with the server. The data connection may be secured based on a previously-established secure connection and/or a self-signed or self-issued certificate. In some variations, by using the previously-established secure connection and/or a self-signed or self-issued certificate, the secure communication between the server and the client may be conducted without using a third-party authentication service and without requiring a third-party CA to issue a certificate for the server.

Abstract: There is provided an optical fiber for providing increased sensitivity in sensing applications by increasing the Rayleigh backscatter coefficient of the fiber while maintaining tolerable levels of signal attenuation (e.g., less than 20% over 10 km). Such an optical fiber comprises a core, a first cladding layer and a second cladding layer. The core comprises at least one core dopant selected from the range of: germanium, phosphorus, aluminium, boron, fluorine. The at least one core dopant is used to increase the core refractive index and enhance the core Rayleigh backscatter coefficient. The first cladding layer comprises at least one dopant selected from: germanium, phosphorus, aluminium, boron, fluorine; wherein at least one first cladding layer dopant is used to reduce the first cladding layer refractive index. The signal attenuation generated in the fiber is less than 20% over 1 km.

Abstract: An engine oil cooler backflush valve assembly is provided as a replacement cap to an engine oil cooler EGR coolant supply cover. The backflush valve assembly includes a main body through which a valve stem is inserted. The valve stem has a bushing threadedly attached thereto which moves the valve stem between first and second positions. A removable cap is provided to cover the backflush valve assembly during normal operation and to be removed during backflush operation. A removable lock can also be used to secure the cap and/or bushing to the main body of the assembly.

Abstract: Generating spectrally enhanced seismic data expresses seismic data as a convolution of reflectivity and a seismic source wavelet. This seismic source wavelet varies over a sampling interval and defining a total amount of energy over the sampling interval. An enhanced seismic source wavelet that is a single-valued energy spike that yields the total amount of energy over the sampling interval is generated. In addition, the reflectivity is modified to preserve amplitude variation with angle. The reflectivity is convoluted with the enhanced seismic source wavelet and residual energy is added to the convolution to generate the spectrally enhanced seismic data.

Abstract: A computing device includes a case enclosure, a heat-generating electrical component, and a thermal insulator. The thermal insulator has a first surface adhesively bonded to the surface of the case enclosure and has a second surface adhesively bonded to the surface of the heat-generating component. The thermal insulator includes a layer of thermally-insulating material between the first and second surfaces, and the thermally-insulating material has a thermal conductivity less than 35 mW/m-K.
