  • Publication number: 20230015075
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a novel method for managing layer four (L4) ports associated with a machine executing on a host computer. The method collects a set of contextual attributes relating to applications executing on the machine. It then analyzes the collected contextual attributes to identify at least one L4 port that has to have its status modified. Next, it modifies the status of the identified L4 port. In some embodiments, the status of an L4 port can be either open or closed, and the modification can open a closed port or close an open port. In some embodiments, the method is performed when the machine starts up on the host computer, performed each time a new application is installed on the machine, performed periodically to close unused L4 ports, and/or performed periodically to close L4 ports that should not be open based on a set of L4-port control policies.

  • Patent number: 11551244
Abstract: A signal relationship is defined between a granular data value and a target data value. At least a portion of the granular data value corresponds to a granular latency value that is smaller than a target data latency value corresponding to the target data value. Granular data corresponding to the granular data value is interpreted. The granular data is aggregated in response to the signal relationship. A value of the target data value for a selected time reference is estimated, and the estimated value of the target data value is provided as a nowcasting prediction of the target data value.

  • Patent number: 11525473
Abstract: A locking system comprising a block made of a polymer substance having an upper surface and a lower surface. In a normal condition, the block has the following structure. A bore, having a first axis, extends through the block and passes through the upper surface and the lower surface, the bore being shaped to include a taper, whereby an upper end of the bore has a larger diameter than a lower end of the bore, and the bore has an internal surface that is smooth. And, a slot, having a second axis, extends through the block and passes through the upper surface and the lower surface, the slot having a generally planar configuration with a width and a thickness, the slot being positioned such that the first axis and the second axis are co-axial, whereby the slot and the bore form a single continuous opening extending through the block.

  • Publication number: 20220389831
Abstract: An impeller is configured to be rotated by a flowing fluid. A fluid stator includes a fixed ring parallel to a plane of rotation of the impeller. The fixed ring has a center in-line with a center of rotation of the impeller. A rotatable ring is rotatable relative to, and parallel to, the fixed ring. The rotatable ring has a center in-line with a center of rotation of the impeller. Stator vanes extend between the fixed ring and the rotatable ring. The stator vanes define an inlet cross sectional area upstream of the impeller. The cross sectional area is dependent upon a relative position of the fixed ring and the rotatable ring. An actuator is configured to rotate the rotatable ring. An electric rotor is coupled to, and configured to rotate in unison with, the impeller. An electric stator encircles the electric rotor. The electric stator includes coil windings.

  • Patent number: 11514096
Abstract: An apparatus includes a data access circuit that interprets data records, each having a number of data fields, a record parsing circuit that determines a number of n-grams from terms of each of the data records and maps the number of n-grams to a corresponding number of mathematical vectors, and a record association circuit that determines whether a similarity value between a first mathematical vector for the first data record and a second mathematical vector for the second data record is greater than a threshold similarity value, and associates the first and second data records in response to the similarity value exceeding the threshold similarity value. An example apparatus includes a reporting circuit that provides a catalog entity identifier, associates each of the first term and the second term to the catalog entity identifier, and provides a summary of activity for an entity.

  • Patent number: 11506007
Abstract: A modular fluid-carrying manifold apparatus is provided for use in hydraulic fracturing blenders and other devices. A manifold can include one or more interchangeable sections. Each section may have a flat front face with ports cut into the front face. Components such as valves and hammer unions are directly removably connected to the ports via bolts. This eliminates the need for welded-on piping. Removable, wear-resistant inserts can be located in the ports. The removable components may be considered consumable and replaced when worn out.

  • Publication number: 20220364894
Abstract: A fuel flow measuring system includes an ultrasonic fuel flow sensor. The fuel flow sensor includes a first transducer and a second transducer. The first transducer is excited at multiple different excitation frequencies and a voltage, an electric current, and a phase difference between the voltage and the electric current is sensed at the first transducer during excitation. Data points are generated based on the sensed readings and a model is fit to the data points to determine a complex impedance spectrum. The complex impedance spectrum indicates a range of excitation frequencies within a range of a peak resonance frequency of the first transducer. One or more characteristics of excitation signals directed to the second transducer are set based on the determined complex impedance spectrum. In this manner, the signal to noise ratio of ultrasonic signals emitted by the second transducer and received by the first transducer can be maximized.

  • Patent number: 11483247
Abstract: A quality of service management system includes a rules engine that receives information associated with a communication path having an assigned quality of service (QoS) to be provided for a customer communication device, and identifies one or more network elements assigned to provide the communication path. Each network element having a plurality of queues configured to provide varying QoS levels relative to one another. For each of the network elements, the rules engine determines at least one queue that is configured to provide the communication path at the assigned quality of service, and transmits queue information associated with the determined queue to its respective network element, the network element conveying the communication path through the determined queue.
