Publication number: 20100270762Abstract: The apparatus is a baby stroller that folds easily. A fold bar preventing the sides from moving toward each other is released by pulling a flexible wire. The wire releases a latch locking together pivoting sections of the fold bar and also activates a cam to move the sections over center to permit the sides to be pushed together. The stroller also includes a single action brake system that is designed to not interfere with the folding action and a hard surface footrest that folds because it is supported on a continuous length of flexible material that acts as hinges on both sides and the center of the footrest.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2010Publication date: October 28, 2010Inventors: James M.F. Patent number: 7819472Abstract: A latching mechanism for a car seat that is mountable on a separable base member provides a positive locking of the car seat to the base member. The latch mechanism has a member that is positioned in the seat portion of the car seat to pivot upwardly when the latch mechanism is disengaged. The seating of a child on the seat portion requires the latch mechanism to be retracted into the seat portion, which corresponds to the locking of the latch mechanism. The latch mechanism includes four helical spools rotated by the pivotal movement of the latch lever to cause linear movement of the locking pins into engagement with the base member. A latch indicator has a pre-latch sensor that indicates proper positioning of the seat member and a latch sensor that indicates an engagement of the locking pins. An indicator light illuminates when the seat member is properly latched.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2008Date of Patent: October 26, 2010Assignee: Wonderland Nurserygoods Co., Ltd.Inventors: James M. Publication number: 20100060052Abstract: A car seat is formed with a harness storage cavity in the car seat shell for placement of the five-point harness to permit the conversion of the car seat into a belt positioning booster configuration without requiring the harness to be removed from the car seat shell. The headrest and back panel pads on the back rest are removed to provide access to the harness storage cavity which is covered by a hinged door. The harness buckle and the chest clip, still attached to the harness webbing, are placed into the storage cavity and the door closed to provide a flush surface on the seat back so that the child has a smooth supporting surface. The harness webbing projects out of slots to allow the webbing to lie flat beneath the headrest and back panel pads when replaced over the closed door to the storage cavity.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 4, 2009Publication date: March 11, 2010Inventors: James M. Patent number: 7651115Abstract: A secondary lock device for a one-hand fold mechanism on a child's stroller is pivotally mounted next to the actuator of the one-hand fold mechanism. The secondary lock device is positioned for convenient access by a finger of the operator to provide an intuitively operable secondary lock device cooperable with the one-hand fold actuator. The secondary lock device is spring-loaded by a torsion spring mounted on the rotational axis of the adjacent cam member forming part of the one-hand fold mechanism. The pivoted lock member includes an outwardly projecting member that engages a corresponding niche in the actuator when in a locking position. The outwardly projecting member rides along a cam surface on the actuator when the actuator is being operated, while the biasing spring returns the outwardly projecting member into the niche when the actuator reaches the home position.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2006Date of Patent: January 26, 2010Assignee: Wonderland Nurserygoods Co., Ltd.Inventors: Curtis M. Publication number: 20090113625Abstract: A bassinet for mounting on a play yard frame is supported to provide a swinging movement of the bassinet relative to the play yard. The bassinet is suspended from four detachable connector mounts that slide over the upper frame member of the play yard frame by three flexible support members and a single rigid support member that is operatively connected to a motor housed within a motorized connector mount to drive the swinging motion for the bassinet. The movement induced into the bassinet is controlled by the four support members to keep the bottom surface of the bassinet at a horizontal orientation throughout the swinging movement. The bottom board of the play yard is formed in segments which can be reconfigured to fit in the bassinet. The end segment can be folded below the remaining segments, or in the alternative removed, to affect the reconfiguration for the bassinet structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 21, 2008Publication date: May 7, 2009Inventors: James M. Patent number: 7077423Abstract: The apparatus is a reduced size baby stroller with a structure that counteracts the usual lengthening when the stroller is folded. The rear wheels of the stroller are interconnected with the front legs and attached to the rear legs by a pivoting wheel link so that the rear wheels do not separate from the front wheels when folded, but instead pivot out of alignment with the rear legs. The stroller handles are mounted on tubes that can telescope inward because all the attachments to the outer tubes are made by external fixtures that do not penetrate into the interior of the tubes, and the canopy can also slide inward when the stroller is folded because the canopy frame is mounted on a fixture with a track.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2004Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: Wonderland Nurserygoods Co.
