  • Publication number: 20040120621
Abstract: A bearing assembly wherein the inner diameter of the slotted compressible annular locking collar is provided with a protrusion which extends radially inwardly, and finger extensions of the inner ring are provided with a recessed groove which extends at least partially along the collective outer annular surface of the finger extensions. When the locking collar is disposed about the finger extensions of the inner ring, the protrusion is disposed within the recessed groove to retain the locking collar on the inner ring. The inner ring finger extensions and the locking collar are relatively sized such that when they are in their free states, the inner diameter of the protrusion is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the recessed groove, such that the collar may be snapped over the finger extensions and into proper position on the inner ring prior to installation on a shaft. The protrusion may be an integrally formed part of the locking collar or a separate resilient member.

  • Publication number: 20040030270
Abstract: A therapeutic garment combining compression therapy such as gradient compression of a body part or tissue of a human or animal subject with electrical or other form of delivered-energy stimulation. Garment electrodes have conductive portions contiguous or integral with elastic portions for delivering electrical stimulation to a treated area that is under compression. The combination of electrotherapy in conjunction with compression can help reduce edema and promote optimum blood circulation and improved healing.

  • Publication number: 20030173187
Abstract: An accumulation conveyor of the present invention includes a frame, which comprises spaced apart side frame members, and a plurality of rollers that are rotatably supported between the side frame members. The conveyor includes a stop member and an actuator that selectively moves the stop member between an extended position wherein at least a portion of the stop member is extended above the conveying surface for stopping one or more articles conveyed on the conveying surface and a retracted position wherein the stop member is below said conveying surface. The actuator and the stop member are supported and positioned between said side frame members when the stop member is moved between its retracted position whereby the stop member and the actuator comprise a low-profile stop assembly.

  • Patent number: 5716147
Abstract: A corrosion-resistant bearing assembly comprising inner and outer bearing races with a plurality of roller elements interposed therebetween. The inner and outer bearing races each have a bi-metallic construction which includes an outer body portion formed of a corrosion-resistant metal alloy, such as stainless steel, and a roller raceway defining insert formed of hardened, high-carbon steel. The bearing races, thereby, are substantially resistant to corrosive effects of contaminants in the outside environment, while providing hardened raceways for long-term bearing life.

  • Patent number: 5704719
Abstract: A bearing assembly having primary seals between inner and outer races on opposite sides of roller elements and an auxiliary face seal on at least one end thereof. The auxiliary seal includes a cap fixed to the inner race, and axially movable face seal member disposed within the cap for rotation therewith, and a resilient O-ring biasing and sealing member interposed between the face seal member and the cap for biasing the face seal into sealing contact with the outer race. The face seal, resilient sealing and biasing member, and cap define a multiplicity of seal barriers for preventing solid and liquid contaminants from entering the bearing assembly and reaching the primary seal.

  • Patent number: 5576691
Abstract: Method and apparatus for deterring theft of manually operated wheeled vehicles, reducing unauthorized use and removal of steel or steel and plastic constructed swivel-wheel shopping carts by preventing the free movement of one or more of the installed wheels. Attached to the frame of the shopping cart, a braking device in accordance with the present invention, when activated, measures the distance traveled beyond an activating point by counting the number of wheel rotations made by the cart and compares this to a preprogrammed stored attribute that defines the allowable distance the cart is allowed to travel once outside the shopping facility. Depending on the direction the cart is travelling, the counter is "armed" or "disarmed" when the cart passes over low-frequency magnetic arrays placed at the entry or exit of the shopping facility.
