  • Patent number: 5429420
Abstract: A device for cutting cured and uncured (green) pavement including concrete which is capable of cutting a straight groove without the guidance of an operator. The cutting blade is positioned between the front and rear soft contour wheels in a vertical plane which is side-to-side equi-distant between the wheels. The blade, blade drive motor and the wheel drive motor are arranged so that each wheel carries approximately the same weight to enable the cutting device to move, unassisted, in a straight line.

    Assignee: Norton Company
    Inventor: James P. Johnson
  • Patent number: 5121999
Abstract: A bearing assembly having inner and outer races with anti-friction elements therebetween and a grease seal at least at one end is provided with a shield between the races for shielding the races, anti-friction elements and grease seal from the entry of dirt, dust and other contaminants.

  • Patent number: 5002406
Abstract: A seal arrangement for sealing at least one side of an internally self aligning, adjustable bearing assembly having inner and outer race rings with the bearing disposed therebetween including a pair of spaced discs, each having one end portion extending in spaced overlapping opposed relation with the other shaped and positioned to provide a seal capable of accommodating bearing float and axial misalignment with the other end secured in fast engaging relation with one of the spaced opposed inner and outer race rings.

  • Patent number: 4902145
Abstract: A separator for the balls of a ball bearing assembly, especially of the land riding variety which is constructed of two like parts joined together by ultrasonic welding. The separator is provided with generally cylindrical ball receiving pockets. Skis are provided on the circumference of the separator which ride on the lands of the bearing. Each part of the separator is formed with alternating studs and bores, which, when two parts are assembled, the bores receive the opposing studs. The structure is so formed to insure the flow of lubricant to the raceways.

  • Patent number: 4868500
Abstract: A method is provided of determining saturation values corresponding to particular locations in a sample of a porous media, whereby such saturation values can be used in conjunction with corresponding capillary pressures to derive a capillary pressure curve. The method of the invention involves the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) imaging to obtain NMR intensity values corresponding to the locations of interest. Intensity is related to saturation by an appropriate function which is employed to determine the saturation values from the intensity values.

Inventors: Bernard A. Baldwin, James P. Johnson
  • Patent number: 4024501
Abstract: A line driver system for digital communication, using logic-level voltages, between an electronic transmitter-receiver device and an electronic receiver device, such as between a computer and a typewriter, a line printer or a cathode ray tube, has the transmitter-receiver device at a location remote from the receiver device. An output of the transmitter-receiver device is electronically coupled to an input of the receiver device using one line of a communications bus. This output of the transmitter-receiver device is coupled to that line of the bus through an optical isolator and then through a power booster. The receiver device has an output that provides a voltage signal when the receiver device is switched on-line. This voltage signal is provided at that output of the receiver device when the receiver device is capable of transforming digital information, that is provided at its input, to a readable form that is printed or displayed by the receiver device.

  • Patent number: 3957299
Abstract: An upstanding operating shank including front and rear sides is provided for use in a substantially upright position. The lower end of the shank includes a forwardly and downwardly inclined elongated digging blade which projects outwardly of the front side of the shank. The forward end of the blade includes a sharpened transverse cutting edge and the lower end portion of the shank further includes a rearwardly and outwardly projecting abutment for applying forward foot thrust to the lower end of the shank. An elongated spring-type weed clamping keeper blade is spaced slightly above and generally parallels the digging blade, and the end of the keeper blade adjacent the shank is rigidly supported therefrom while the end of the keeper blade remote in the shank includes an upwardly directed skid portion.
