    Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing a divide operation in a computer are described. The apparatus includes a first memory containing estimated reciprocal terms, and a second memory containing reciprocal error terms. An adder adds a selected estimated reciprocal term from the first memory and a selected reciprocal error term from the second memory to provide the reciprocal. The selected estimated reciprocal term and the selected reciprocal error term correspond to at least a portion of a divisor. The apparatus includes a multiplier for multiplying a dividend by the reciprocal to generate a quotient. The method includes the step of looking up an estimated reciprocal term in a first lookup table stored in a first computer memory wherein the estimated reciprocal term corresponds to at least a portion of a given divisor. A reciprocal error term is looked up in a second lookup table stored in a second computer memory, the error term corresponds to at least a portion of the divisor.

A removable nest is mounted on the base for receiving components from the removable component track, and transports the component between first and second positions on the base.

    Abstract: A refrigerator having a cabinet which defines a freezer compartment having an access opening and a closure member for closing the access opening. An ice maker is disposed within the freezer compartment for forming ice pieces. An ice storage bin is mounted to the closure member below the ice maker for receiving ice from the ice maker. An ice level sensing finger extends from the ice maker into the ice storage bin for sensing the level of ice within the storage bin. A lever is pivotably connected to the ice maker and biased toward the closure member for lifting the ice level sensing finger out of the ice storage bin when the closure member is opened. The lever further operates to prevent the dispensing of ice pieces when the closure member is open.

    Abstract: A refrigerator having a middle fresh food compartment and a relatively large bottom freezer compartment arranged below the fresh food compartment and a relatively small freezer compartment arranged above the fresh food compartment. The bottom freezer compartment preferably supports a drawer including a frame and a removable bin. Cool air can be supplied to the compartments of the refrigerator by employing a two fan control system such that no electromechanical baffles are required. Alternatively, cool air can be directed to the compartments of the refrigerator by use of a baffle which requires only a single electromechanical device to control air flow into three different compartments. The baffle includes a main rotary damper which can be positioned to provide proportional amounts of chilled air to the three separate compartments based on the degree of cooling required.

    Abstract: A pixel engine pipeline (including a "front-end" and a "back-end") communicates pixel information between a graphics processor, a pixel engine, a data cache, and system memory. The "front-end" (for reading requested data) includes a command queue for receiving graphics instructions from a graphics processor. Read requests in the command queue are stored in a read request queue. Extraction instructions corresponding to at least a portion of the read request are stored in an attribute queue. Control logic determines whether the requested data is located in a data cache. The read request is stored in a load request queue and the requested data is retrieved from system memory into a load data queue, if the requested data is not in the data cache. The control logic stores the requested data into a read data queue. The requested data is provided to a stage of the pixel engine from the read data queue in accordance with the extraction instructions.

There is a single condenser, a single compressor, a refrigerant circuit having a series of conduits with different flow control capabilities for providing a flow of refrigerant sequentially, that is, not simultaneously, to the first and second evaporators, the condenser and compressor, and various valves in the refrigerant circuit for directing refrigerant to a selected one of the evaporators from the condenser and for preventing a flow of refrigerant into the first evaporator when refrigerant is being directed into the second evaporator to cool the second compartment.

    Abstract: In a high-speed binary multiplier circuit, the multiplicand is segmented into a series of 8-bit slices and the multiplier is modified-Booth recorded into 3-bit groups. The corresponding partial product terms are reduced in a regular array of small carry-save adder (CSA) cells. Iterative use of the CSA array provides the Wallace tree function in one-seventh the chip area or number of adders of a conventional implementation. The multiplier and divider are pipelined internally, driven by a fast, two-phase internal clock that is transparent to the user. The internal clock stops and restarts upon loading new operand and instruction data to synchronize the internal clock to the system clock. Other aspects of the invention include two-speed internal clocking for operation and testing, two-node clock stopping and distributed buffering of system clock signals.
