  • Publication number: 20050091405
Abstract: A node within a network receives a data object and generates a generic container data type representation. Data in the received data object is mapped into one or more fundamental data items, such as integers, floats, and bytes, and then placed within the container data type representation. The container data type representation is assigned an annotation based on the contents within the container. The node determines whether a native data type representation corresponding to the container data type representation is available. If a native data type representation is available, the node transforms the data object into a native data type representation. The node then transmits the native data type representation to a component residing within the node. If a native data type representation is unavailable, the node transmits the container data type representation, or transmits the container data type representation and an incomplete native data type representation, to a component.

  • Publication number: 20040233069
Abstract: A wireless device displays a view of location data to a user. The location data includes readily recognizable features in a geographical area, such as a geographical map or a list of cities, neighborhoods, businesses, intersections, streets, or landmarks. A user selects a particular location data from the view and the selected location data is displayed in more detail. The process of selecting particular location data and displaying that location data in more detail continues until a location can be specified from the displayed view.

  • Publication number: 20040203467
Abstract: There are disclosed systems and methods for performing diagnostic testing on portable communication devices, such as cellular telephones. In one embodiment, diagnostic commands are generated internal to the communication device and processed within the device as though the test commands had been received from a remote location. The processed commands can be analyzed either within the portable device or remote therefrom. For remote processing, a wireless port is provided.

  • Publication number: 20040203435
Abstract: Discovery and mapping of network nodes in a peer-to-peer network. Network nodes in a peer-to-peer network are discovered and mapped by sending out queries at varying power levels and recording acknowledgments including a quality-of-service metric from the acknowledging node.

  • Publication number: 20040019856
Abstract: Coding numeric values into text. Uncertainty metadata kept with stored values is used to facilitate numeric-to-text conversion. Using uncertainty associated with values, only meaningful mantissa digits are returned. Excess information is trimmed to reduce transmission times.

  • Publication number: 20030202543
Abstract: Aggregate processing of information during network transmission. Information requests are redirected to cause the information to be returned to a processing node where processing takes place before the processed information is returned to the requester. Redirection for processing may be initiated by the requester, or may be initiated on behalf of the requester. Processing nodes may be distributed. Processing requests may be nested so that after a first processing action takes place on data flowing through the network, a second processing action takes place.

  • Publication number: 20030203722
Abstract: Reduced power consumption in a receiver. Power consumption is reduced in a receiver by operating portions of the receiver such as the first RF amplifier, local oscillator, and associated phase locked loop at reduced power in a standby mode, trading lower power for lower performance. In a normal operating mode, these portions of the receiver operate at full power and performance.

  • Publication number: 20030134631
Abstract: In a method and system, one or more communication devices within a communication network are provided with a dynamically and remotely configurable probe element, implemented at least partially in software and controllable by the network operator via one or more communication links, capable of monitoring, measuring and capturing user interaction data flowing from voice and/or data transactions occurring in the network. User interaction data reflects a user's experience on the network and thus provides valuable raw data usable by the network operator for improving network quality from the user's perspective, especially when received from a statistically significant number of network user devices. Collected user interaction data can include network engineering metric data and/or user profile data.
