The method includes receiving an Application Information Table (AIT) including a screen_type indicating a type of N-screen device in which a broadcast service application will be run from a broadcast service provider, and one of running the broadcast service application based on the screen_type, performing an operation related to running the broadcast service application by considering a connection relationship between the main N-screen device and a sub N-screen device based on the screen_type, and discarding the AIT based on the screen_type.

Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for inserting an advertisement in a broadcasting system based on adaptive streaming. To this end, content related information for advertisement content is generated by an advertisement providing server and a content transmitting server. A client is informed of an update required time of the content related information to receive new content related information from the content transmitting server. Therefore, the advertisement content can be reproduced in a set period.

Abstract: A method for receiving additional information from a device in a broadcast communication system is provided. The method includes receiving broadcast information provided from a broadcast service provider over a broadcast channel, extracting application information from the broadcast information, acquiring location information for the additional information associated with a broadcast content from the application information, and transmitting the location information for the additional information to a peer device for displaying the additional information.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for selecting a Content Delivery Network (CDN) for Internet Protocol (IP)-based services. A service request message is received from a user. The service request message includes user location information. The CDN is selected in accordance with the user location information. The service request message is transmitted to the CDN for connection of a corresponding delivery function module of the CDN to the user.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a content service such as an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) using multiple devices are provided. A method, in which a gateway provides a content service using multiple devices, includes sending a service request to a service provider, receiving required list information from the service provider receiving the service request, the required list information indicating a list of devices required for a requested service, acquiring performance information of accessible devices on the basis of the required list information, receiving content with a service level corresponding to the acquired performance information from the service provider, and distributing the received content to the accessible devices to be used for the content service.

Abstract: An Internet Protocol (IP) TeleVision (IPTV) service provision method and system is provided for providing both fixed and mobile device users with IPTV services. The IPTV service provision method of the present invention includes establishing, when a Mobile-IPTV terminal function (M-ITF) including a first Open IPTV Terminal Function (OITF) having a plurality of functional entities and an embedded gateway having a plurality gateway functions detects a gateway function of an IPTV Terminal Function (ITF) including a second OITF having a plurality of functional entities and a plurality of gateways, a link with the gateway function of the ITF; disabling the embedded gateway; requesting a service provider network for an IPTV service via the gateway function of the ITF; and establishing a service link with the service provider network to received the IPTV service.

Abstract: Provided is a method for enabling a capability of a terminal in a device management system including a server capable of at least one of enabling and disabling capabilities of the terminal. The method includes the step of determining if a condition has been met for requesting enablement of a disabled capability of the terminal.
