  • Patent number: 8325868
Abstract: A passive phase jitter modulation (PJM) tag is charged with power in a continuous wave (CW) section. When receiving a command from a reader, the passive PJM tag must recognize the command and determine exactly when to begin demodulating the command. Only then can the passive PJM tag demodulate the command. To this end, a synchronization apparatus for accurately demodulating a signal input to a PJM tag includes a plurality of correlators correlating a received phase jitter-modulated signal with a template of an internal matched filter which is in the same form as at least a portion of a modified frequency modulation (MFM) flag.

  • Publication number: 20120112884
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for detecting the collision of Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) tags. In the apparatus and method for detecting the collision of RFID tags, when a subcarrier signal from which a carrier signal has been removed by a reader ASK analog demodulation device is inputted to a baseband receiver, a peak signal for the received tag signal is generated, and useful information about the generated peak signal within a symbol section is extracted. In the case where a collision is generated because two or more tags send signals to an RFID reader at the same time when the RFID reader communicates with the tags, the RFID reader can effectively detect the collision between the tags.

  • Publication number: 20120057656
Abstract: An apparatus and method for passive radio frequency identification (RFID) reader digital demodulation with respect to a Manchester subcarrier signal are disclosed. In a passive RFID environment where the Manchester subcarrier signal contains DC components in a frequency region, even when a tag signal containing the DC offset noise is input to a baseband, demodulation may be efficiently performed while the DC offset noise is removed. Therefore, accurate detection of tag information from the tag signal may be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20110307073
Abstract: Bioresorbable scaffolds for bone engineering, such as repair of bone defects, particularly long bone defects, or augmentation of bone length are described. Scaffolds are porous and comprise multiple side channels. In one embodiment, scaffolds are made from layers of micro-filament meshes comprising polycaprolactone (PCL) or a PCL-composite sequentially laid in incremental 60 degrees of rotation to produce a 0/60/120 degree layering pattern, providing for the formation of interconnected pores. The scaffold can comprise a central channel filled, packed or infused with suitable agents such as bioactive agents. Furthermore, the scaffolds are stiff but yet fracture resistant and with sufficient bending, compressive and torsional strength suitable for bone engineering. The slow degradation of the scaffold is sufficient for the 3D matrix to maintain structure integrity and mechanical properties during the remodelling process.
