    Abstract: In some embodiments, the disclosure relates generally to methods, as well as related systems, compositions, kits, apparatuses and computer-readable media, comprising a multiplex molecular tagging procedure that employs a plurality of tags that are appended to a plurality of polynucleotides. The tags have characteristics, including a sequence, length and/or detectable moiety, or any other characteristic, that uniquely identifies the polynucleotide molecule to which it is appended, and permits tracking individual tagged molecules in a mixture of tagged molecules. For example, the tag having a unique tag sequence, can uniquely identify an individual polynucleotide to which it is appended, and distinguish the individual polynucleotide from other tagged polynucleotides in a mixture. In some embodiments, the multiplex molecular tagging procedure can be used for generating error-corrected sequencing data and for detecting a target polynucleotide which is present at low abundance in a nucleic acid sample.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a novel method for producing the rice haploid, i.e., producing the rice haploid by rice×maize hybridization. In this method, rice is used as the female parent, and the rice panicle is emasculated and then pollinated with fresh maize pollens; the emasculated panicle is sprayed with 2, 4-D solution at 50-200 mg/L 24 h after pollination, and after 15-20 days the rice panicle is cut off to collect caryopses; and the haploid embryos are obtained by dissectting caryopses asepticlly, then inoculated and cultured with ½MS medium, then the haploid embryos directly germinate into rice haploid seedlings. Compared with the existing main methods for producing the rice haploid, such as anther culture and isolated microspore culture, the rice haploid production method of the present invention reduces the dependence on rice genotypes, does not produce mixture of haploid and diploid plants, contains no albino seedling, and is simpler in technical operation.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a manufactured graphene/metal or metalloid core-shell composite and manufacturing method thereof. The method comprising: using a modified graphene oxide as a base, then performing concentration and steam drying followed by organic solvent replacement to obtain a modified graphene oxide organic solvent; using a liquid-phase self-assembly method to coat the modified graphene oxide onto a surface of the metal or metalloid to form a graphene/metal or metalloid coated particle solution, then filtering and drying to obtain the graphene metal/metalloid core-shell composite. The method improves upon a conventional organic and inorganic material coating technique, and reduces an impact of a water-based solvent and high temperature on a highly reactive metal and metalloid, thereby expanding the feasibility of the coating technique and addressing a barrier of applicability of graphene and reactive metal or metalloid in the field of energetic materials.

    Abstract: Provided herein are methods and related systems for controlling droplet spreading on a surface, including droplets in which a biological component is suspended. A biological solution is provided as a droplet to a surface. Interference fringes generated by the droplet on the surface are imaged, wherein the imaging is over a time course during which the droplet spreads on the surface. A droplet parameter is determined from the imaging step and a process parameter controlled to obtain an interference fringe pattern corresponding to a desired droplet parameter. In this manner, well-controlled droplet spreading is achieved, which is important in a range of applications, including assays that rely on good metaphase spreading.
