  • Patent number: 8711673
Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods are provided for detecting the mode of a received OFDM signal. A received signal may be correlated with one or more time-delayed version of itself resulting in a set of correlation signals. Each correlation signal may be analyzed for one or more characteristics that can be used to determine the symbol length of the received signal. In order to minimize the number of correlations performed, one or more correlations can be used with varying symbol lengths and a fixed guard interval length. The correlation signals can be processed by filters, and the characteristics of the filtered correlation signals can be analyzed to determine the guard interval length of the received signal. In addition to detecting symbol length, the present invention can be used to detect receiver impairment and perform any appropriate compensations.

  • Publication number: 20140040152
Abstract: Techniques to determine fake accounts of a social networking system. In one embodiment, a magnitude of a cluster of accounts is calculated. The social networking system determines the accounts are fake when the magnitude of the cluster is less than a threshold value. The accounts are not determined to be fake, or determined to be not fake, when the magnitude of the cluster is equal to or greater than the threshold value. The accounts may be associated with at least one resource. A mapping of the accounts may be created based on features associated with the accounts. A radius of the cluster is compared with the threshold value. The accounts are determined to be fake when the radius is less than the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 8377918
Abstract: Apigenin is a nontoxic compound. The present invention is appropriate for apigenin use in people who have a high risk of getting cancer, and in people who have cancer through chemoprevention and chemotherapy, respectively. We showed that apigenin inhibited cancer cell proliferation, tumor growth and angiogenesis. Apigenin selectively inhibited proliferation and induced apoptosis of cancer cells, enhanced the sensitivity of different cancer cells to different therapeutic drugs including cisplatin and taxol. Apigenin also inhibits angiogenesis and tumor growth in human cancers, and inhibits angiogenic inducers such as hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Apigenin inhibited expression of HIF-1 and VEGF through PI3K, AKT, p70S6K1 and HDM2 pathways, which are commonly observed in all kinds of human cancers.

  • Patent number: 8102619
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a filter for filtering airborne particles present within an enclosure containing equipment sensitive is provided. The filter may be used within the enclosure of a hard disk drive. The filter may comprise a magnetic plate enclosed by a protective layer, which in turn may be enclosed by a non-woven scrim. The magnetic plate has a magnetic property that generates a magnetic field attractive to paramagnetic particles within the enclosure. The protective layer forms a barrier that prevents particles of the magnetic plate from entering into the enclosure. The non-woven scrim may, but need not, have an adhesive property which traps non-paramagnetic particles coming in contact with the non-woven scrim. If the non-woven scrim lacks an adhesive property, then at least a portion of the non-woven scrim may be coated with an adhesive layer which traps non-paramagnetic particles coming in contact with the non-woven scrim.
