  • Patent number: 7957259
Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods are provided for detecting the mode of a received OFDM signal. A received signal may be correlated with one or more time-delayed version of itself resulting in a set of correlation signals. Each correlation signal may be analyzed for one or more characteristics that can be used to determine the symbol length of the received signal. In order to minimize the number of correlations performed, one or more correlations can be used with varying symbol lengths and a fixed guard interval length. The correlation signals can be processed by filters, and the characteristics of the filtered correlation signals can be analyzed to determine the guard interval length of the received signal. In addition to detecting symbol length, the present invention can be used to detect receiver impairment and perform any appropriate compensations.

  • Patent number: 7940849
Abstract: In a method for determining timing information in a receiver, a first signal is analyzed to determine a first phase difference with respect to different portions of the first signal, and a second signal is analyzed to determine a second phase difference with respect to different portions of the second signal. The second signal is a frequency domain representation of at least a portion of the first signal. An indication of a carrier frequency offset and a sampling period offset are generated based on the first phase difference and the second phase difference.

  • Patent number: 7936911
Abstract: The method comprises steps of making a plaster dental cast of a patient, reconstructing jaw image assembly models, performing registration between physical stone and image model, adjusting the plaster dental cast based on a x-ray cephalometric plan, tracking movements of the plaster dental cast, obtaining optimal symmetry planes of the upper and lower jaw image assemblies, determining whether a degree of overall symmetry is elevated, and making surgical occlusal splints for surgical guiding. With foregoing method, possible results of executing an orthognathic surgical plan can be predicted and the surgical plan can be considered more carefully to achieve both occlusion function and facial symmetry.

  • Publication number: 20110015461
Abstract: The invention is directed to an ionic liquid comprising (i) a cationic portion containing a complex of a silver (I) ion and one or more neutral ligands selected from organoamides, organoamines, olefins, and organonitriles, and (ii) an anionic portion having the chemical formula wherein m and n are independently 0 or an integer of 1 or above, and p is 0 or 1, provided that when p is 0, the group —N—SO2—(CF2)nCF3 subtended by p is replaced with an oxide atom connected to the shown sulfur atom. The invention is also directed to a method for separating an olefin from an olefin-paraffin mixture by passing the mixture through a layer of the ionic liquid described above.

  • Publication number: 20100288301
Abstract: Removing contaminants from an electroless nickel (EN) plated surface. A surface of an EN plated object is washed in a first deionized water to remove a first portion of surface contaminants. The surface is immersed into a chemical solution wash for a pre-determined duration to remove nickel phosphate particles from the surface, wherein the chemical solution wash comprises at least one type of chelating agent dissolved in a solvent. The chemically washed surface is then washed in a second deionized water to remove a second portion of the surface contaminants.

  • Patent number: 7801345
Abstract: The method is performed in a computer and includes acts of importing medical image data sets of an object, selecting regions of interest of the object in each medical image data set, processing the medical image data and constructing an optimal symmetry plane. The act of selecting the regions of interest of the object in each medical image data set defines the regions of interest of the object in each medical image data set and locates the regions of interest of the object in each medical image data set. The act of processing the medical image data executes an error equation and obtains optimal parameters of the optimal symmetry plane with a symmetry value. The act of constructing an optimal symmetry plane constructs an optimal symmetry plane with the obtained optimal parameters. Based on the discovered Optimal Symmetry Plane, slanted images from medical imaging can be rectified.

  • Publication number: 20100172051
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a filter for filtering airborne particles present within an enclosure containing equipment sensitive is provided. The filter may be used within the enclosure of a hard disk drive. The filter may comprise a magnetic plate enclosed by a protective layer, which in turn may be enclosed by a non-woven scrim. The magnetic plate has a magnetic property that generates a magnetic field attractive to paramagnetic particles within the enclosure. The protective layer forms a barrier that prevents particles of the magnetic plate from entering into the enclosure. The non-woven scrim may, but need not, have an adhesive property which traps non-paramagnetic particles coming in contact with the non-woven scrim. If the non-woven scrim lacks an adhesive property, then at least a portion of the non-woven scrim may be coated with an adhesive layer which traps non-paramagnetic particles coming in contact with the non-woven scrim.

  • Patent number: 7729082
Abstract: The present invention relates to HDD screws, and more specifically to lubricating the HDD screws. HDD screws may be coated in a layer of a PFPE based lubricant to reduce friction while fastening the screw into a HDD. In addition to providing superior lubricity and reduced friction during fastening and longer shelf life, PFPE lubricated screws provide narrower clamping load distribution and lower particle generation compared to currently used screw lubricants. Furthermore, because PFPE lubricants are also used to lubricate magnetic disk surfaces, the HDD screws may provide a reservoir for replenishing depleting lubricants on the magnetic disk drive surface.
