  • Publication number: 20170297880
Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for a public standard interface including a Battery Management System that allows for communication between an alternative energy source and a material handling vehicle. The alternative energy source may be a Lithium Ion Battery, a fuel cell, or another non-lead acid based battery. The Battery Management System is coupled with a CAN bus that allows for communication between the material handling vehicle and the alternative energy source. The CAN bus communicates information such as a type of the energy source, energy output limits, electric current limits and information such as an energy demand profile of the vehicle. Also included is an interface between the Battery Management System and Charger Control System.

  • Publication number: 20170259693
Abstract: A counterweight system for a battery of a material handling vehicle is provided. A counterweight case can be configured to receive the battery. One or more spacers can be disposed within the counterweight case. The one or more spacers can space the battery apart from one or more internal walls of the counterweight case, when the battery is received in the counterweight case. In some cases, the spacers, along with vent holes, plugs, brackets, and/or a cover (e.g., a blanket cover) can help to protect the battery from environmental factors (e.g., heat, cold, vibrations, contact, and so on).

  • Publication number: 20170007779
Abstract: An infusion pump assembly includes a locking tab and a pump barrel inside a pump barrel housing, where the pump barrel accommodates a reservoir assembly. The reservoir assembly includes a reservoir and a plunger rod. The infusion pump assembly also includes a locking disc at a terminus of the pump barrel. The locking disc includes a clearance hole for the plunger rod. The locking disc also includes at least one locking tab notch in close proximity with the locking tab. The locking tab is in moveable engagement with the locking tab notch, and the reservoir moves the locking tab from a locked position to an unlocked position when the plunger rod is inserted through clearance hole. The locking disc rotates upon torque being applied to the reservoir assembly, the locking disc rotating from a non-loaded position to a loaded position with respect to the plunger rod and a drive screw.

  • Publication number: 20160353679
Abstract: A system and method for moisture control includes a computer, a probe controller connected to the computer, a set of probes connected to the probe controller, a sprinkler controller connected to the computer, and a set of sprinklers connected to the sprinkler controller. The set of probes are driven into the ground according to a predetermined set of positions. A set of high voltage currents is injected into the ground through the set of probes and measurements are taken. A three-dimensional resistivity model is generated from the measurements and is compared to a set of moisture requirements. A set of sprinkler commands is generated based on the three-dimensional resistivity model and the set of moisture requirements. If the three-dimensional resistivity model meets the set of moisture requirements, the set of sprinklers are activated in each of a set of sprinkler zones according the three-dimensional resistivity model where watering is needed.

  • Patent number: 9014557
Abstract: An optical intensity control system for use with an optical switch providing individual signal paths between input and output ports. The system has optical splitters connectable to output multiplexers of the switch and has variable optical intensity controllers (VOICs) for insertion into the individual signal paths to individually control the intensity of optical signals present in the signal paths via intensity control signals. An equalizer is connected to the splitters and to the VOICs produces an estimate of the optical power of each individual switched optical signal and generates the intensity control signals. The equalizer is adapted to controllably isolate individual switched optical signals. In this way, individual and independent control of the power on each optical channel is provided.

  • Patent number: 8443943
Abstract: Operation of an industrial vehicle, such as one that lifts and transports loads, is controlled based on the weight of a removable battery. A control method involves reading a battery weight value from an electronic memory attached to a battery. That battery weight value is compared to a specified battery weight value for the industrial vehicle. The operation of the industrial vehicle is restricted to less than the normal operating characteristics when the battery weight value is less than the specified battery weight value. For example, the height to which a load can be raised is limited or the speed at which the industrial vehicle is limited when a battery installed on the industrial vehicle weighs less than the specified battery weight for effectively counterbalancing a load.

  • Patent number: 8427104
Abstract: A plurality of rechargeable and removable batteries are allocated to a plurality of industrial vehicles based on the power delivery capability of each battery and the intensity level at which each vehicle is operated. One of a plurality of ratings is assigned to each industrial vehicle, wherein a rating denotes an operating intensity level. The actual capacity of each battery is measured. A given battery is installed on a particular industrial vehicle in response to the relationship between the rating assigned to that industrial vehicle and the actual capacity of the given battery. Batteries with greater actual capacity are installed on industrial vehicles that are used more intensively. When a battery ages and its actual capacity diminishes, that battery is installed on less intensively used industrial vehicles.
