  • Patent number: 9838125
Abstract: A photonic beamformer is disclosed andh is configured to transmit or receive a plurality of RF input signals from a plurality of antennas. The beamformer receiver includes a plurality of optical modulators, each optical modulator being configured to modulate each of the RF input signals onto an optical carrier, each carrier having a different wavelength. The beamformer receiver also includes a plurality of optical amplifiers, each optical amplifier being configured to vary the optical power of one optical carrier based on a weighting input and generate a weighted optical carrier. The beamformer receiver also includes a plurality of multi-beam optical true-time delays (TTD), each TTD being configured to receive all of the weighted optical carriers and generate a plurality time delayed optical carriers.

  • Publication number: 20170031695
Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses for limiting processing resources incurred due to refreshing a user interface. In various embodiments, an event is received, and it is determined whether a delay time period has elapsed. A length of the delay time period is based on a timing of receipt of one or more previous events. If the delay time period has not elapsed, refreshing of the user interface is postponed. When the delay time period elapses, the user interface is refreshed to display an indication of the event.

  • Patent number: 9491617
Abstract: Disclosed is a user device comprising storage means and a network interface for connecting to a network via an access point. The user device also comprises a processor configured to execute a client. This client is operable to receive access data pertaining to the access point which is conditionally useable by the client. The client is further operable to determine that the client can use the received access data based on a detected current condition at the user device. In response to said determination, the client is operable to use the received access data to: (i) store access credentials of the access point in said storage means, and (ii) configure the user device to an automatic connection mode. When so configured, the user device is capable of automatically connecting to the network via the access point using the stored access credentials independently from the client thereafter.

  • Patent number: 9018437
Abstract: The invention discloses novel model of transgenic mammal, a method of crossbreeding transgenic mammal and the use of the transgenic mammal for assessing prevention and/or treatment methods for cardiovascular and other diseases related to lipoprotein(a). The transgenic mammal expresses human apolipoprotein (a) (apo(a)) and human apolipoprotein B-100 (apo B-100) genes and produces human lipoprotein (a), apo (a) and apo B-100 and produces no vitamin C. This novel dual transgenic mammal is the ideal model for testing pharmaceutical compounds for efficacy and usefulness in the prevention and/or treatment of human diseases.

  • Patent number: 8951225
Abstract: Balloon catheter, guide catheter and method for dilating openings in paranasal sinuses. A non-removable guide member (e.g., guidewire) extends from the distal end of the balloon catheter. The non-removable guide member initially passes through the opening of the paranasal sinus and is followed by the catheter body on which the balloon is mounted. The balloon is then inflated causing dilation of the opening of the paranasal sinus. In some embodiments, the non-removable guide member may be shapeable so that the operator may place the non-removable guide member in a desired shape prior to insertion of the balloon catheter. In some embodiments, the length of the non-removable guide member may be adjustable such that the operator may adjust the length of the non-removable guide member prior to insertion of the balloon catheter.

  • Publication number: 20140288414
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for delivery of substances or apparatus to target sites located outside blood vessels within the body of a human or animal patient. A vessel wall penetrating catheter is inserted into the vasculature, positioned and oriented within a blood vessel near the target extravascular site and a penetrator is advanced from the catheter so as to penetrate outwardly through the wall of the blood vessel in the direction of the target site. Thereafter, a delivery catheter is passed through a lumen of the penetrator to the target site. A desired substance or apparatus is then delivered to or obtained from the target site. In some applications, the penetrator may be retracted into the vessel wall penetrating catheter and the vessel wall penetrating catheter may be removed, leaving the delivery catheter in place for chronic or continuous delivery of substance(s) to and/or obtaining of information or samples from the target site.

  • Publication number: 20140242954
Abstract: Method, server and computer program product for providing data to a user device, wherein the user device is connectable to a network. The server of the network determines locations of interest for a user of the user device based on analysis of one or more factors including analysis of one or more of: (i) details of contacts of the user, and (ii) event details in an electronic calendar of the user. The server determines location-relevant data for the determined locations of interest. Whilst the user device is connected to the network, the server automatically sends the determined location-relevant data over the network to the user device for storage therein, such that the location-relevant data is subsequently available at the user device when the user device is not connected to the network.

  • Patent number: 8672920
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for delivery of substances or apparatus to target sites located outside blood vessel lumens. A penetrating catheter is inserted into a blood vessel lumen and a penetrator is advanced from the catheter in the direction of the target site. Thereafter, a delivery catheter is passed through a lumen of the penetrator to the target site. A desired substance or apparatus is then delivered to or obtained from the target site. In some applications, the delivery catheter may remain in place for chronic or continuous delivery of substance(s) to and/or obtaining of information or samples from the target site. Alternatively, a delivery catheter having an occlusion member may be advanced into a vein or venule and used to occlude the lumen of the vein or venule during and after injection of a substance such that the substance will not be carried away by normal venous blood flow.

  • Publication number: 20130262162
Abstract: A method and related system allow reservations of shipping slots on a vessel. The method includes accepting for pre-allocation from a carrier, slots on a voyage of the vessel, corresponding carrier booking numbers for the slots, and shipping rules for the slots. A booking request from a shipper is accepted to reserve one or more of the pre-allocated slots on the vessel, together with shipping information for the booking request. The shipping information is correlated against the shipping rules for the slots to determine if the booking request can be accepted. If the booking request can be accepted, the carrier booking numbers corresponding to the reserved slots are then provided to the shipper, and the corresponding slots are marked as reserved.

  • Publication number: 20130252636
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of locating a wireless access node using a mobile device having wireless access technology. The mobile device carries out the following steps without using the wireless access technology: uses geolocation means on the mobile device to detect the position of the mobile device; compares geolocation data from the geolocation means with access node entries in a store accessible to the mobile device, each access node entry associating a wireless access node with its geolocation data; and automatically identifies a wireless access node which is indicated as a result of the comparison to be in the vicinity of the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8345600
Abstract: A method, program and apparatus for limiting processing resources incurred due to refreshing a user interface of a first terminal. The method comprises: at a first terminal, receiving a plurality of event indications which indicate respective events, each of the event indications being received at a different time; and based on the event indications, refreshing the user interface of the first terminal to reflect each of the respective events. Refreshing comprises determining a plurality of time periods, and during each of those time periods postponing the user interface from being refreshed to reflect any outstanding ones of the event indications until that time period has elapsed. The time periods are each determined having a length set in dependence on a timing of the receipt of one or more of the event indications, wherein the length of a later time period is set to an increased value relative to an earlier time period in response to the receipt of one or more of said event indications within a time limit.

  • Patent number: RE44583
Abstract: A method for automatically forwarding and replying short message is provided. Firstly, a local user joins a message chat room. If the user presses a key for forwarding a message, the message chat room provides structuralized, modularized and hierarchy message menu to the user, else the local user waits for a plurality of pre-established reply messages provided by a server or a remote cellulous phone. At this time, the local user can press a modify key to modify the reply messages and the message chat room provides an editing window to facilitate modify operation. Afterward, the local user presses a send key after selecting a replay message.
