  • Publication number: 20140242954
Abstract: Method, server and computer program product for providing data to a user device, wherein the user device is connectable to a network. The server of the network determines locations of interest for a user of the user device based on analysis of one or more factors including analysis of one or more of: (i) details of contacts of the user, and (ii) event details in an electronic calendar of the user. The server determines location-relevant data for the determined locations of interest. Whilst the user device is connected to the network, the server automatically sends the determined location-relevant data over the network to the user device for storage therein, such that the location-relevant data is subsequently available at the user device when the user device is not connected to the network.

  • Patent number: 8672920
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for delivery of substances or apparatus to target sites located outside blood vessel lumens. A penetrating catheter is inserted into a blood vessel lumen and a penetrator is advanced from the catheter in the direction of the target site. Thereafter, a delivery catheter is passed through a lumen of the penetrator to the target site. A desired substance or apparatus is then delivered to or obtained from the target site. In some applications, the delivery catheter may remain in place for chronic or continuous delivery of substance(s) to and/or obtaining of information or samples from the target site. Alternatively, a delivery catheter having an occlusion member may be advanced into a vein or venule and used to occlude the lumen of the vein or venule during and after injection of a substance such that the substance will not be carried away by normal venous blood flow.

  • Publication number: 20130262162
Abstract: A method and related system allow reservations of shipping slots on a vessel. The method includes accepting for pre-allocation from a carrier, slots on a voyage of the vessel, corresponding carrier booking numbers for the slots, and shipping rules for the slots. A booking request from a shipper is accepted to reserve one or more of the pre-allocated slots on the vessel, together with shipping information for the booking request. The shipping information is correlated against the shipping rules for the slots to determine if the booking request can be accepted. If the booking request can be accepted, the carrier booking numbers corresponding to the reserved slots are then provided to the shipper, and the corresponding slots are marked as reserved.

  • Publication number: 20130252636
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of locating a wireless access node using a mobile device having wireless access technology. The mobile device carries out the following steps without using the wireless access technology: uses geolocation means on the mobile device to detect the position of the mobile device; compares geolocation data from the geolocation means with access node entries in a store accessible to the mobile device, each access node entry associating a wireless access node with its geolocation data; and automatically identifies a wireless access node which is indicated as a result of the comparison to be in the vicinity of the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8345600
Abstract: A method, program and apparatus for limiting processing resources incurred due to refreshing a user interface of a first terminal. The method comprises: at a first terminal, receiving a plurality of event indications which indicate respective events, each of the event indications being received at a different time; and based on the event indications, refreshing the user interface of the first terminal to reflect each of the respective events. Refreshing comprises determining a plurality of time periods, and during each of those time periods postponing the user interface from being refreshed to reflect any outstanding ones of the event indications until that time period has elapsed. The time periods are each determined having a length set in dependence on a timing of the receipt of one or more of the event indications, wherein the length of a later time period is set to an increased value relative to an earlier time period in response to the receipt of one or more of said event indications within a time limit.

  • Patent number: 8090430
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for delivery of substances or apparatus to target sites within the body of a human or animal patient. A vessel wall penetrating catheter is inserted into the vasculature, positioned and oriented within a blood vessel near the target extravascular site and a penetrator is advanced from the catheter in the direction of the target site. Thereafter, a delivery catheter is passed through a lumen of the penetrator to the target site. A desired substance or apparatus is then delivered to or obtained from the target site.

  • Patent number: 7993266
Abstract: This invention provides an electronic proximity apparatus and a surveillance method using such an apparatus for alerting individuals that are exposed to a contagious disease. When a person becomes symptomatic and is diagnosed as positive for a given contagious agent, individuals that have recently maintained a threshold proximity with respect to an infected individual are notified and advised to seek immediate medial care. Treatment of individuals in the very early phases of infection (pre-symptomatic) significantly reduces contagiousness of the infected population first exposed to the contagious disease, thus preventing spread of the disease throughout the general population.
