  • Publication number: 20190102921
Abstract: In accordance with various embodiments, described herein are systems and methods for use of computer-implemented machine learning to automatically determine insights of facts, segments, outliers, or other information associated with a set of data, for use in generating visualizations of the data. In accordance with an embodiment, the system can use a machine learning process to automatically determine one or more outliers or findings within the data, based on, for example, determining a plurality of combinations representing pairs of attribute dimensions within a data set, from which a general explanation or pattern can be determined for one or more attributes, and then comparing particular values for attributes, with the determined pattern for those attributes. Information describing such outliers or findings can be graphically displayed at a user interface, as text, graphs, charts, or other types of visualizations, and used as a starting point for further analysis of the data set.

Abstract: In accordance with various embodiments, described herein are systems and methods for use of computer-implemented machine learning to automatically determine insights of facts, segments, outliers, or other information associated with a set of data, for use in generating visualizations of the data. In accordance with an embodiment, the system can receive a data set that includes data points having data values and attributes, and a target attribute, and use a machine learning process to automatically determine one or more other attributes as driving factors for the target attribute, based on, for example, the use of a decision tree and a comparison of information gain, Gini, or other indices associated with attributes in the data set. Information describing facts associated with the data set can be graphically displayed at a user interface, as visualizations, and used as a starting point for further analysis of the data set.

  • Patent number: 10223832
Abstract: The technology provides contextual personal information by a mixed reality display device system being worn by a user. A user inputs person selection criteria, and the display system sends a request for data identifying at least one person in a location of the user who satisfy the person selection criteria to a cloud based application with access to user profile data for multiple users. Upon receiving data identifying the at least one person, the display system outputs data identifying the person if he or she is within the field of view. An identifier and a position indicator of the person in the location is output if not. Directional sensors on the display device may also be used for determining a position of the person. Cloud based executing software can identify and track the positions of people based on image and non-image data from display devices in the location.

  • Publication number: 20170314654
Abstract: A variator for a mechanical transmission system is disclosed. Transfer means are in rolling contact with input and output members of the variator to transfer rotary motion between them. The input member is coupled to the variator input through a first biasing device arranged to exert a first biasing force on the variator according to a first, input gain which relates input torque acting on the input member and the first biasing force. The output member is coupled to the variator output through a second biasing device arranged to exert a second biasing force on the variator according to a second, output gain which relates output torque acting on the output member and the second biasing force. The first and second biasing forces clamp the variator to provide traction. The first, input gain and second, output gain are different, which, at least in specific variator applications, optimises the traction coefficient.

  • Patent number: 9772967
Abstract: An apparatus and method provide power to perform functions on a computing device. In one example, the apparatus contains multiple processors that may operate at different power levels to consume different amounts of power. Also, any of the multiple processors may perform different functions. For example, one processor may be a low power processor that may control or operate at least one peripheral device to perform a low capacity function. Control may also switch from the low power processor to a high capacity processor. In one example, the high capacity processor controls the low power processor and further controls the at least one peripheral device through the lower power processor.

  • Publication number: 20170009853
Abstract: A variator is disclosed comprising first and second races disposed for rotation about a variator axis, at least one rolling element disposed in a cavity between the races. In a drive configuration, drive is transmitted between the races and the or each rolling element; and in a neutral configuration, the or each rolling element and races are configured whereby the races can move independently of one another. In a method of operating the variator, the neutral configuration is obtained by moving the or each rolling element to a position in which it ceases to make contact with at least one of the races. The drive configuration is obtained by moving the or each rolling element to a position in which it makes contact with both of the races.

  • Patent number: 9529566
Abstract: An audio/visual system (e.g., such as an entertainment console or other computing device) plays a base audio track, such as a portion of a pre-recorded song or notes from one or more instruments. Using a depth camera or other sensor, the system automatically detects that a user (or a portion of the user) enters a first collision volume of a plurality of collision volumes. Each collision volume of the plurality of collision volumes is associated with a different audio stem. In one example, an audio stem is a sound from a subset of instruments playing a song, a portion of a vocal track for a song, or notes from one or more instruments. In response to automatically detecting that the user (or a portion of the user) entered the first collision volume, the appropriate audio stem associated with the first collision volume is added to the base audio track or removed from the base audio track.
