  • Publication number: 20180094790
Abstract: In one embodiment, a lighting device for a vehicle includes a first light source configured to generate first light, and a second light source configured to generate second light. A fiber optic light panel is optically coupled to the first and second light sources and includes a plurality of optical fibers each configured to emit light along a respective length of the optical fiber. The plurality of optical fibers are arranged to define an illumination region such that the first and second light is output from the illumination region.

  • Patent number: 9927087
Abstract: A lighting module for a vehicle includes a light source, and a light emitting panel optically coupled to the light source and has an array of optical fibers. A light enhancing element is optically coupled to the light emitting panel such that the panel outputs light with a first cone angle to the light enhancing element. The light enhancing element is configured to narrow the first cone angle to a second cone angle smaller than the first cone angle.

  • Publication number: 20180023776
Abstract: Alighting device for a vehicle includes a light source for generating light, and a lighting panel having a light emitting side and a light reflecting side opposing the light emitting side. The lighting panel includes an optical fiber layer having a plurality of optical fibers each configured to emit the light along a length of the optical fiber. The plurality of optical fibers are arranged in a predetermined form such that the optical fiber layer has a first side facing the light emitting side of the lighting panel and a second side facing the light reflecting side of the lighting panel. A reflecting layer is provided on the second side of the optical fiber layer and is configured to reflect the light toward the first side of the optical fiber layer. At least one layer of the lighting panel is an aesthetic layer selected for aesthetic appeal and being visible from the light emitting side of the lighting panel in an unlit state.

  • Publication number: 20180017227
Abstract: An optical mixer for a vehicle lighting device having a light source and an optical fiber panel that inputs light from the light source. The optical mixer includes a light input face configuration to input light from the light source, and a light output face configured to output light to the input to panel. A sidewall connects the light input face to the light output face. The optical mixer is configured to provide output light from the output face having greater spatial uniformity than input light entering the input face.

  • Patent number: 9052095
Abstract: A light guide fixture system (10) includes a light guide (20) and a fixturing cassette (18). The guide (20) includes and a mounting surface (26) having a mounting feature (30) and a locating feature (28) for engaging a locating feature (72) of a light module (64) and align the guide (20) with respect to a light engine (12). The cassette (18) includes a light guide-receiving region (42) for receiving the mounting surface (26), a mounting feature (52), and a mounting region (44) for mounting the system (10) to the light module (64). The mounting features (30, 52) allow translational motion of the cassette (18) relative to the guide (20) when the guide (20) is received in the light guide-receiving region (42) while allowing the guide (20) to remain in the predetermined position. The cassette (18) secures the guide (20) to the light module (64).
