  • Patent number: 10210538
Abstract: An analyte measurement system includes a processor connected to a biosensor providing analyte data corresponding to an analyte level of a fluid sample. A user interface provides a menu of functions to a user and successively receives a plurality of menu choices, which the processor records. A storage device holds data defining a first action criterion. The processor compares the menu choices to the first action criterion. When the stored menu choices satisfy the first action criterion, the processor can automatically add a first additional function to the menu of functions, or can automatically presents a reward token via the user interface. The system can also include a housing holding the user interface, the storage device, and the processor. Methods are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20180341729
Abstract: The systems and methods disclosed herein provide multiple solutions from maximizing efficiencies for propulsion and electrical plant equipment to reducing life cycle costs. Knowing how equipment is used/operated and how fuel is used to power equipment can increase awareness and can help to provide the best opportunity to maximize the technological gains in power generation. The systems and methods disclosed herein can provide such awareness by displaying current and projected fuel consumption attributable to specific factors encountered in operational conditions, including the environment, hull fouling, displacement and engineering plant modes. Systems and methods employ physics and quantitative based methodology that focus on assessing and quantifying fuel utilization impacts due to machinery employment, material condition disparities, abnormal configurations and excess usage.

  • Publication number: 20180156471
Abstract: A heat pump water heater and a method for controlling a relative humidity in an environment including the heat pump water heater are provided. The heat pump water heater includes an evaporator, a condensate collection tray, and a condensate pump for discharging collected condensate. Notably, the amount of condensate collected correlates to the humidity level in the environment. Therefore, an exemplary method contemplates determining an average operating value of the condensate pump, the average operating value being a function of the pump operating time and the condensate pump rate. Based on the temperature of the environment and the average operating value, the relative humidity may be determined and the operation of the heat pump water heater may be adjusted to regulate the relative humidity.

  • Publication number: 20180095049
Abstract: A hand-held test meter for use with an analytical test strip (such as an electrochemical-based analytical test strip) for the determination of an analyte (e.g., glucose) in a bodily fluid sample, the hand-held test meter including a housing with an analytical test strip contact pressure feature, a printed circuit board (PCB) with at least one solder bump disposed in the housing. The housing of the hand-held test meter is configured for the insertion of an analytical test strip therein. In addition, the analytical test strip contact pressure feature is configured to operatively apply pressure on the inserted analytical test strip such that at least one electrical contact of the inserted analytical test strip is operably pressed against the solder bump, thereby creating a direct operable electrical connection between the inserted analytical test strip and the solder bump of the PCB.

  • Publication number: 20170122340
Abstract: Systems and techniques for cancelling fan noise by providing an anti-noise waveform are disclosed. In some embodiments, the systems and techniques include receiving, at a fan, a pulse width modulated signal from a power supply. A fan blade of the fan is rotated at a spin speed that is measured by a first sensor. A second sensor detects a position of the fan blade. Based on the spin speed and the position, an anti-noise waveform is generated that is configured to cause destructive interference with a fan noise of the fan. An audio signal is output that corresponds to the anti-noise waveform to cause destructive interference with noise caused by the spinning blades of the fan.
