  • Patent number: 4565261
Abstract: A gallery for use as a means for supporting workmen and/or materials at levels above the ground has a platform, a balustrade extending upwardly from one longitudinal marginal portion of the platform, and a gate which is secured to the balustrade by one or more aligned hinges having a pintle defining for the gate a vertical pivot axis for movement between an open position in which one side of the gate is adjacent to the inner side of the balustrade and a closed position in which the lower portion of the gate abuts against a stop mounted on the platform and being spaced apart from the balustrade. In order to enable the gate to pivot beyond such closed position, the hinge or hinges allow the gate to be lifted to a level above the stop so that it can bypass the stop and move to a second open position in which its other side is adjacent to the inner side of the balustrade. The stop can define a vertical recess which can receive a portion of the gate so that the latter is locked in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4538765
Abstract: Waste paper is defiberized within a container or receptacle in a thick stock range at a low water level. Thereafter, by further infeeding water, the obtained slurry or the like is diluted to a consistency of less than 7% while continuing the defiberizing operation. Finally, the obtained stock suspension is withdrawn through a sieve or screen located at the floor of a defiberizing container. The defiberizing container or receptacle used for performing the method possesses a lower region having a smaller diameter, above which there is located an upper region having a larger diameter.

  • Patent number: 4520990
Abstract: A device which serves to temporarily and releasably connect two neighboring panels of a concrete form has two sections which are coupled to each other by a pivot pin, and two parallel projections each of which is carried by a discrete section. One of the projections is rigidly attached to the respective section, and the other projection is rotatable relative to its section and can be locked to the flange of one of the panels after passing through a keyhole-shaped opening of such flange. The other projection then extends into the opening of the flange which forms part of the other panel. The section for the non-rotatable projection is L-shaped and the other section is a link which can turn about the axis of the pivot pin. The non-rotatable projection is secured to the free end portion of one leg of the L-shaped section and the pivot pin connects the link to the free end portion of the other leg.

  • Patent number: 4478385
Abstract: Climbing forms for stepwise erection of concrete walls have a platform which is supported by a frame having elongated carriers extending at right angles to the outer side of the wall to be erected and being removably suspended on anchors which are embedded in the wall. The platform supports a pair of parallel guide rails for a form member which carries the boarding of the climbing forms. The rails guide the carriages of the form member so that the boarding can be moved between an advanced position in which it is adjacent to the cavity into which concrete is to be poured and a retracted position in which the wall and the boarding define a passageway which is accessible to workmen on the platform so that the workmen can clean and/or otherwise treat that side of the boarding which faces the wall.

  • Patent number: 4474887
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the determination of the .beta.-lipoprotein fraction (LDL) in body fluids, especially in serum or plasma, wherein the LDL fraction is selectively precipitated from the sample by the addition of a polyvinyl sulphate with monovalent cations and then determined. The present invention also provides a reagent for the determination of the .beta.-lipoprotein fraction (LDL) in body fluids, especially in serum or plasma, wherein it contains polyvinyl sulphate.

  • Patent number: 4450120
Abstract: A form for supporting from below a layer of concrete during pouring and hardening has several square or rectangular panels having neighboring marginal portions with downwardly extending reinforcing skirts which are separably connected to each other by bolts. The panels rest on props which must be removed prior to separation of the panels from each other. In order to dismantle the form in the space below the hardened concrete layer, the props for one of the panels are removed and a dismantling device is separably coupled to a panel which is adjacent to the one panel. The dismantling device has a socket below the skirt of the one panel and the one panel is thereupon detached from the panel which carries the dismantling device so that the skirt of the one panel descends into the socket. The one panel is then pivoted with reference to the socketed part of the dismantling device so that its upper side moves away from the underside of the concrete layer.

  • Patent number: 4429849
Abstract: A peg which forms part of a frame for setting up the lines around excavations preparatory to erection of buildings or the like has a post the lower end of which is provided with a laterally extending plate welded to the web of a U-shaped leg whose flanges have aligned openings for the shank or shanks of one or more nails which are driven into the ground at an acute angle to the axis of the post. A second U-shaped leg is welded to the lower end of an inclined brace which is adjustably coupled to an intermediate portion of the post. A third U-shaped leg can be connected to the outer ends of two reinforcing members whose inner ends are integral with the post. Additional openings for the shanks of nails can be provided in the webs of the legs.

  • Patent number: 4040594
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for connecting and aligning adjacent casting forms for the construction of multi-story buildings in which upper ends of vertical panels of adjacent forms are releasably connected by an intermediate body, spaced from each other according to the thickness of a vertical concrete wall to be cast therebetween. The intermediate body projects with an end portion upwardly beyond horizontal panels of the forms for a distance greater than a ceiling to be cast on these horizontal panels. A pair of parallel structural channels are releasably connected spaced from each other the same distance as the vertical panels to the projecting portion of the intermediate body so that after casting the vertical walls and the ceiling for one story and hardening of the concrete, the intermediate body and the casting forms may be removed and the latter re-erected for the next story properly aligned on the channels which have been left in place on the cast ceiling.
