  • Publication number: 20230334777
Abstract: A method in a graphics processor searches for a candidate reinsertion for each of a plurality of input nodes in a current bounding volume hierarchy (BVH), which would move the respective input node from an old parent to a new parent, and which would reduce the expected computational cost of searching the BVH for a ray intersection; and updates the current BVH with one or more selected reinsertions selected from among the candidates. In the search for candidate reinsertions, either or both of: a) the new parent is limited to being related to the old parent by an ancestor at no more than a predetermined number of hierarchal levels above the old parent, and/or b) the input nodes are limited to being at or above a hierarchical level a predetermined number of hierarchical levels below the root node.

  • Publication number: 20230334770
Abstract: A method performed by a graphics processor searches for a candidate reinsertion for each of a plurality of input nodes of a current bounding volume hierarchy (BVH) which would move the input node from an old parent to a new parent, and which would reduce an expected computational cost of searching the BVH for a ray intersection; and performs a first update to update the current BVH with one or more selected reinsertions from among the candidates. The selection comprises a conflict check to determine whether any group of the candidates would affect a same part of the current BVH, and if so selecting only one of the group to include in the first update. At least one of the iterations further comprises, after the first update, performing a second update within the same iteration to update the current BVH with another of said group.

  • Publication number: 20230293055
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a device and method for a smart-tooth glucose monitoring device. The device is created in response to the desire for an accurate and non-invasive or partially-invasive monitoring device as an alternative to current methods of the glucometer lancet and strips. The device consists of a tooth and its pulp chamber to achieve direct measurement of blood, an optic source and sensors that measure the wavelengths emitted by the optic source. The tooth is embedded with a flexible circuit with a monochromatic light as an optic source with different sensors such as PZT transducer and photodiode within a modified porcelain crown. The monochromatic light pulses passes through the tooth and its pulp chamber and the photoacoustics measured by the sensors which can then be utilized to determine glucose concentration in the blood.

  • Patent number: 11746059
Abstract: A system and method of melt infiltrating components is provided. In one example aspect, an inductive heating system includes a heating source that inductively heats a susceptor. The susceptor defines a working chamber in which components can be received. During melt infiltration, the system can heat the susceptor and thus the components and melt infiltrants disposed within the working chamber at a first heating rate. The first heating rate can be faster than 50° C./minute. The system can then heat the components and melt infiltrants at a second heating rate. The first heating rate is faster than the second heating rate. Thereafter, the system can heat the components and infiltrants at a third heating rate. The third heating rate can be a constant rate at or above the melting point of the melt infiltrants. The infiltrants can melt and thus infiltrate into the component to densify the component.

  • Publication number: 20230252718
Abstract: A hierarchical acceleration structure for use in a ray tracing system. When generating a node for the hierarchical acceleration structure, the primitives in a particular portion of the 3D scene may be alternatively bounded by different shaped volumes. These bounding volumes or ‘bounding regions’ can be Axis Aligned Bounding Boxes (AABBs), although other bounding volumes can be used. The ray tracing system may use sets of two or more bounding volumes in a 3D scene to bound all the primitives within that portion. The choice of how to create sets of multiple bounding volumes within a portion of the 3D scene may be done by using a binary space partition (BSP). Different sets of bounding regions may present different amounts of surface area for a hypothetical ray entering the portion of the 3D scene dependent upon the expected ray direction or angle.
