  • Publication number: 20040183762
Abstract: A liquid crystal display capable of being minimized, in which a backlight assembly has a light source portion for generating light, a liquid crystal display panel receives the light from the backlight assembly to display images. A mold frame for sequentially accepting the backlight assembly and liquid crystal display panel is formed to be gradually thinner as further advancing from a first side of accepting to place the light source portion toward a second side opposing to the first side. Also, a chassis coupled to be opposite to the mold frame for closely fixing the backlight assembly and liquid crystal display panel to the mold frame is formed to be gradually thinner as further advancing from the first side of accepting to place the light source portion toward the second side opposing to the first side. Thus, the liquid crystal display can be slimmed.

  • Publication number: 20040051825
Abstract: An LCD device has scratch-resistant property without using a protection sheet and can provide enhanced brightness. The LCD device includes a light path regulating member. The member includes a first prism sheet having first prisms of which apex has a round shape. The first prism sheet concentrates light supplied from a lamp to output the concentrated light. An anti-glare polarizing plate uniformly polarizes polarized planes of the concentrated light and provides the polarized light to the lower substrate. The anti-glare polarizing plate is arranged below the lower substrate of an LCD panel, and an uppermost prism sheet of optical sheets is non-matte-treated and has round-treated apexes. In spite of the absence of the protection sheet, the scratch-resistant property of the uppermost prism sheet and the brightness of the LCD panel may be enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20040008507
Abstract: A light guiding plate capable of minimizing a thickness of a backlight assembly and an LCD device, a backlight assembly and an LCD device having the same are provided. The light guiding plate has a light incident surface, a light reflection surface having a plurality of dots for diffusing and reflecting the light emitted from the light incident surface and a light output surface having a predetermined roughness and further diffusing the light diffused and reflected by the light reflection surface. Thus, a conventional diffusion sheet disposed above the light guiding plate may be removed.

  • Patent number: 6593979
Abstract: In the packaging of an LCD module within a small and lightweight case, the case comprising a front case and a rear case, a recess with a predetermined depth, formed at the edge of the bottom side of the LCD module, is combined with a boss formed at the case, and a recess with a predetermined depth, formed at the edge of its surface, is fastened to a fastening means for securing the LCD module, thereby minimizing the difference between the areas of the LCD module and the case and further reducing the number of processes required for combining the LCD module with the case. In addition, the recess formed at the surface edge of the LCD module is combined with a fastening hook formed at the rear case so that the LCD module can be secured to the rear case and to the front case without any separate fastening member such as a stud or insert.
