  • Patent number: 10553887
Abstract: A fuel cell system of controlling a valve assembly to maintain a feed flow rate while avoiding a vibration generation range in order to reduce noise due to vibrations generated in the valve assembly is provided. The fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack that receives fuel and generates electric energy and a valve assembly that adjusts a flow rate of fuel that is supplied to the fuel cell stack. A controller then oscillates the flow rate of the fuel to alternately have a first value that is equal to or greater than a upper limit value of a first vibration generation range and a second value that is equal to or less than a lower limit value of the first vibration generation range, in response to determining that the flow rate of the fuel supplied through the valve assembly is included in the first vibration generation range.

  • Patent number: 10328819
Abstract: A fuel cell system and method of controlling the fuel cell system are provided. The fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack that is configured to receive fuel, and generate electric energy and a fuel supply valve that is configured to adjust pressure of fuel that is supplied to the fuel cell stack. A controller is configured to operate the fuel supply valve to supply fuel of predetermined target pressure to the fuel cell stack, using a difference between the predetermined target pressure and actual pressure of the fuel being supplied. When the actual pressure reaches a steady state from a transient state, the controller applies a smaller gain than in the transient state to determine a first controlled variable based on the difference between the target pressure and the actual pressure of the fuel being supplied.

  • Patent number: 10046382
Abstract: A method of casting a low alloy steel using a mold is disclosed. The method includes receiving the mold having a foam pattern disposed within a sand casing. The received foam pattern is coated with a permeable refractory coating and is disposed between compacted sand and the sand casing. The method further includes pouring a molten metal comprising a low alloy steel having a carbon content in a range from about 0.1 to about 0.4 percent into the mold so as to vaporize the foam pattern and remove gasification products through the permeable refractory coating, to form a low alloy steel casting. Further, the method includes removing the low alloy steel casting from the mold.

  • Patent number: 9839958
Abstract: A method for making an equiaxed investment casting. The method utilizes an ultrasonic generator to send an ultrasonic pulse into molten metal in an investment casting mold. The investment casting mold is positioned within a working zone of furnace having low output induction coils for generating a convection current in molten metal. The ultrasonic pulse separates dendrites growing from the face of the mold inward into the molten metal. Instead, equiaxed grains can nucleate within the molten metal. In addition, the ultrasonic pulse and the low output induction coils circulate the molten metal as solute is rejected from solidifying equiaxed grains. The mixing reduces the effects of segregation in the solidifying alloy and assists in nucleating equiaxed grains.
