  • Publication number: 20160255638
Abstract: A communications system for device-to-device communications includes a group of plural communications devices, each configured to perform device-to-device communications via a wireless access interface with one or more other communications devices of the group. One of the communications devices is configured to detect interference in communications resources of the wireless access interface caused by signals transmitted by another communications device, and to provide, in response to detecting the interference, an indication of the interference to one or more of the communications device. By the communications device of the first group of communications devices detecting the interference and communicating an indication of the interference to the other members of the group, then members of the group can adapt the transmission and reception of data via the wireless access interface to avoid resources of the wireless access interface which is subject to interference.

  • Publication number: 20160143086
Abstract: A wireless telecommunications system supports a DRX operating mode for communications between a base station and terminal device. This mode includes a regular and repeating cycle of DRX inactive periods in which the terminal device monitors a downlink channel from the base station and DRX active periods during which the terminal device enters a power-saving mode and does not monitor the downlink channel. The terminal device transmits uplink signalling that is a trigger for subsequent downlink signalling. The base station receives the uplink signalling, determines the time of an upcoming DRX inactive period for the terminal device, and delays transmitting downlink signalling in response to the uplink signalling until the upcoming DRX inactive period. The terminal device enters the power saving mode after transmitting the uplink signalling and exits the power saving mode for the DRX inactive period to monitor the downlink channel for the downlink signalling.

  • Publication number: 20160057730
Abstract: A paging method in a wireless telecommunications system. A core network element selects a base station from plural base stations including a tracking area to have primary responsibility for paging a terminal device and conveys an indication of the terminal device to the selected base station. Each base station maintains a paging database identifying one or more terminal devices for which it has a responsibility for paging. When a terminal device is to be paged, the core network element transmits a paging request to the plural base stations including the tracking area. The respective base stations then determine whether to onward transmit a paging message for the terminal device based on a comparison between an identifier for the terminal device being paged with entries in their paging database, and if the comparison indicates it has responsibility for paging the terminal device, it will transmit a paging message accordingly.

  • Patent number: 8483141
Abstract: Several mobile station identifiers are allocated to one mobile station, one for each of a plurality of possible signalling channel structures, parameters, or both. When receiving the signalling channels, the mobile station searches for all identifiers allocated for it in the received signalling channels. When it finds one that matches, it may for instance check a mapping table (agreed at the connection setup between mobile station and the network by RRC signalling) to determine what this identifier means. The signalling channel structure, parameters, or both, used in the transmission may be implicitly or explicitly indicated by the identifier. The mobile station (User Equipment) should monitor the signalling channels in the normal way. Instead of looking for only one identifier, however, the mobile station should monitor several identifiers belonging to it.

  • Publication number: 20070265016
Abstract: Resources are allocated on a shared downlink control channel by an allocation table that is partitioned into a first, fixed length partition and into at least one second, variable length partition. The fixed length and the modulation and coding scheme MCS of the first partition is known a priori. The second variable length and the MCS of the second partition may be given in the first partition. Robustness may be varied between different second partitions of the same allocation table, or even within a single second partition to account for users at different proximity to the network node giving the allocations. Users may be identified in the first partition (e.g., a fixed number of users), and/or in the second partition (either additional allocated users or all users being allocated if the first partition does not identify users). Method, apparatus, computer program, integrated circuit and systems are detailed.

  • Publication number: 20070242636
Abstract: A number N physical resource blocks PRBs are allocated among M users in a single control signal, in which some PRBs are allocated as localized to only one user UE and some PRBs are allocated as distributed among multiple UEs. The control signal includes M allocation entries, allocation type bits and a user index sequence of N user indexes. Each allocation entry comprises a UE-ID for indicating to which user a corresponding resource is allocated, where an order of the allocation entries indicates a relationship between the user index and the UE-ID. Individual ones of the allocation type bits corresponds to an individual one of the UE index. The allocation type bits indicate whether a corresponding UE is to use localized allocation or distributed allocation.

  • Patent number: RE42744
Abstract: A method of sending feedback information in a fast physical layer hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) for frequency division duplex communications that form an overall wireless communication system is described in which the received packets are acknowledged by transmitting feedback data to the sender, wherein the acknowledgement comprises the reservation of obtaining a plurality of slots in the uplink/downlink dedicated channel radio frame for the feedback data alone. It is also directed to the transmission of feedback data used in specified slots within each radio frame, wherein the first slot used is based upon the time offset between uplink and downlink channels, as well as based upon the time required for de-interleaving, de-ratematching, decoding and error checking. In an alternative embodiment, the method uses dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH) bits in at least some of the slots for transmitting such feedback data to the sender.
