  • Patent number: 9350410
Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a protective cover configured to attach to a wireless device having a surface including a first portion and a second portion mutually exclusive from the first portion. The second portion of the surface is associated with a proximity sensor of the wireless device. The protective cover is configured to cover the first portion of the surface when the protective cover is attached to the wireless device. The protective cover is configured to not cover the second portion of the surface when the protective cover is attached to the wireless device such that the proximity sensor is not triggered by the protective cover when the protective cover is attached to the wireless device and when the wireless device is operational.

  • Publication number: 20160082973
Abstract: A control system for a vehicle operable to control a driveline of a vehicle to vary and amount of torque coupling between first and second groups of one or more wheels, the control system being operable automatically to cause application of brake torque to a wheel of the first or second groups of one or more wheels in response to detection of loss of traction of one or more wheels, wherein if the amount of brake torque or brake pressure of a braking system employed to apply the brake torque exceeds a threshold value in response to the detection of loss of traction, the control system is operable to cause the driveline to reduce the amount of torque coupling between the first and second groups of wheels.

  • Patent number: 9287915
Abstract: An antenna or set of antennae for a wireless device is provided by embedding the antennae into the battery case or generally the surface area of a wireless phone. The antenna connections are through the battery's connections to the wireless device. The antenna can be located at the back surface of the battery or the rear surface of a wireless phone, facing away from the user. An RF shielding device can be embedded into the battery and configured in relation to the antenna such that the RF field intensity and the consequent specific absorption rate for the user is lowered while the outgoing signals of the wireless device remain fully adequate for the function of the wireless device. This feature is preserved for a multi-band operation because a digital phase shifter is used between two radiating antennae. An external case is used as a complement to the wireless phone.

  • Publication number: 20160056020
Abstract: A system for treating at least one surface of a material may include a reaction vessel containing a first electrode and a second electrode separated by a gap. A power source may generate an electrical potential across the first electrode and the second electrode. A mixture of a non-reactive fluid and a reactive fluid exposed to the electrical potential may produce a back coronal plasma discharge from the second electrode to the first electrode. The reactive gas may further form a treatment material within the plasma. Depending on the reactive fluid introduced in the reaction vessel, a substrate disposed distally with respect to the second electrode may be coated with the treatment material, thereby increasing the hydrophobic character of the substrate. The treated substrate may be incorporated into a composite composition composed of a hydrophobic matrix.

  • Publication number: 20150237475
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for delivering emergent event notifications to a user's Mobile Device. Map and Calendar applications are polled with correlations made between map locations and event information. Geo-Fence Boundaries are established for map locations which are inherited by their associated events. Penetration of a Geo-Fence Boundary by a Mobile Device running the Mobile Application triggers a search for events that are associated with the established Geo-Fence Boundary. Filtered Notifications of event options of interest to the user are transmitted to the Mobile Device based on pre-established and dynamic variables and whether the user can arrive at the event while it is underway. Upon selection of an event by the user, the Mobile Device provides route and navigation guidance to the selected location.
