  • Patent number: 5786641
Abstract: A failure detection system detects a failure in a by-pass switch of a power converter. The by-pass switch switches the electric power supply so that electric power is supplied from a standby power source to a load instead of from a power converter. A switch operation circuit turns the by-pass switch on and off. A first current detector detects the inverted output current of the power converter. A second current detector detects the load current flowing through the load. An operational amplifier adds the outputs of the first and second current detectors. A comparator detects a failure of the by-pass switch. If the addition result given by the operational amplifier is outside a predetermined range of values when the switch operation circuit is turned off, the comparator concludes that the by-pass switch has a failure.

  • Patent number: 5745317
Abstract: A reproducing device for reproducing information from a tape-shaped recording medium, such as a magnetic tape, in which address information and data are recorded on the recording medium on a plurality of inclined tracks. The address information is composed of a track address and a block address. The reproducing device, which reads and reproduces data from the tape-shaped recording medium includes a reproducing unit, an address extracting unit, a memory, a driving unit and a controller. The reproducing unit reads out data from the tape-shaped reproducing medium for data reproduction. The reproducing unit has a rotary head configured for scanning a plurality of tracks of the tape-shaped recording medium for reading out data from the recording medium. The address extracting unit extracts the address information from data read out by the reproducing unit from one scan of the tape-shaped recording medium by the rotary head. The memory stores data read out from the reproducing unit.

  • Patent number: 5650883
Abstract: A recording apparatus has a check-after-write function for reproducing and checking the recorded state of a recorded track. When overwriting of data is started, an identification number to be stored in a track is set at a fixed value, and check-after-reproduction is performed by the fixed value during reproduction in which a check is made. Also, a reproducing apparatus includes a system for detecting that a very small error segment has occurred on the data and for making the data of the error segment invalid or not outputting the data when it is determined that the error segment has occurred.

  • Patent number: 5446647
Abstract: A device for controlling output voltage of a converter is provided. The input voltage V.sub.R is detected by means of a voltage detecting device and the phase .PHI. of the input voltage is detected by means of a phase synchronizing circuit. The detected phase is input to an AC sine wave reference oscillating circuit in order to obtain an AC sine wave reference signal having the same phase as input voltage. The output of an amplitude instruction generating circuit is multiplied by an AC sine wave reference signal by means of a multiplier in order to obtain a converter current instruction I.sub.A *. The input current I.sub.R detected by means of a current detecting device is differentiated by means of an approximation differentiator and only the resonance frequency component is detected by means of a band-pass filter. The detected resonance frequency component is multiplied by a gain K by means of a proportion device and the output os subtracted from the converter current instruction I.sub.

  • Patent number: 5274511
Abstract: An external position detector is mounted on a head arm that also carries a transducer for tracking a magnetic disk. When the head arm is moved at constant speed, the position detector produces an output signal that is periodic but has a measurable pitch error or pitch unevenness. The periodic output signal is measured to determine the pitch error, and an amount of compensation required to compensate for the measured pitch error is calculated. A value of the periodic output signal corresponding to the amount of compensation and therefore corresponding to an absence of pitch error is calculated, and a servo signal is recorded on the magnetic disk at a location corresponding to the calculated value of the periodic output signal. The pitch error is thereby fully compensated, and the servo signal is recorded with precision.

  • Patent number: 5256020
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fastening member, a machine element set for fastening and a method of fastening the machine element for fastening so arranged that a through hole of a fastening member freely fastened to the shaft, the thread or the receiver portion of a thread member is formed into a narrow hole by warping, deforming, bending or twisting the fastening member so as to cause fastening edges to be fastened to the thread portion of the male thread member. When the male thread member is tightened, the narrow hole is restored to the original moderate through hole by the tightening force, so that the fastening member or members to be installed and held by the fastening member can be easily temporarily fixed. After the tightening work has been completed, the male thread member and the fastening member can be freely rotated with respect to each other, so that the damage of the corresponding element due to rubbing can be prevented.
