    Abstract: A combined braking system in which communicative connection a master cylinder and a brake caliper is cut off by an electromagnetic on-off valve, and hydraulic pressure, corresponding to driving conditions and a braking operation, is generated by an electrically-operated actuator of a hydraulic pressure modulator. Hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic pressure modulator operates on the brake caliper, whereas a psuedo-reaction force which has been generated by a reaction force modulator operates on the master cylinder. The reaction force modulator is configured to include: a fluid chamber for receiving hydraulic fluid which has flowed therein from the master cylinder; a piston to constitute a wall of the fluid chamber; and a metal-made coil spring and a deformed plastic resin spring, both of which apply a force to the piston. The braking system provides a braking operation having a smooth feeling which is similar to that given by a direct-operation-type brake system.

    Abstract: In a braking device of a motorcycle, in which a rear wheel braking mechanism is operated in conjunction with a front wheel braking operation, accurate determination of a reduction in rear wheel load is provided, and additional reduction of the rear-wheel load is prevented. Determination of a reduction in rear-wheel load is based on vehicle speed in the front wheel braking operation, hydraulic pressure of a brake caliper on the front wheel side, and respective slip ratios of the front and rear wheels. When the rear-wheel load is reducing, hydraulic pressure of a brake caliper on the rear wheel side is controlled so as to keep the slip ratio of the rear wheel at or below a set value. A hydraulic modulator supplies/evacuates the hydraulic pressure to/from the brake caliper on the rear wheel side, and the slip ratio of the rear wheel is controlled by electrically controlling the hydraulic modulator.

    Abstract: A receiving device used in a digital television includes an automatic storage section obtains the channel information on physical channels at which a program is broadcast, when the channel information contains any other physical channels therein, registers the physical channels thereof in a channel map, decides whether the physical channel which is switched has been registered in the channel map, and if the physical channel has been registered, not to detect whether a program is broadcast at the other physical channels. In this case, information of any other physical channel is present in a VCT, this other physical channel is registered in the channel map without detecting whether a program is broadcast at the channel. Therefore, the total number of the channels to be detected on whether a program is broadcast can be decreased, thus reducing the time for performing the automatic storage function.

    Abstract: A digital broadcasting receiver that uses a channel map containing broadcast information such as channel numbers and virtual channel numbers is described. When a user selects a certain digital channel number, a control unit consisting of a CPU makes a search as to whether or not the number exists in the channel map. If the number does not exist, “No Signal” notice is displayed on a display and if the user selects a scan instruction then, the entire range of frequency band of the broadcasting signal is scanned. If a signal that corresponds to the digital channel number exists, its broadcast is received. Therefore, a search is possible even when the user knows only a virtual channel number and the digital channel number entered by the user is not registered in the channel map.

    Abstract: A vehicle braking apparatus is capable of suppressing time lag at the time of activating an ABS, reliably detecting wheel slippage at a wheel even on a low ? road surface, and performing a brake operation to stop the vehicle without causing stroke variations in a brake actuating unit. A vehicle braking apparatus includes a hydraulic modulator for generating hydraulic pressure applied to a brake caliper which is connected to a master cylinder via a main brake path, and a pressure sensor for detecting hydraulic pressure applied to the brake caliper. When the ABS is activated, the hydraulic pressure applied to the brake caliper is reduced to a pressure reduction target value based on the detected pressure. A normally-open electromagnetic valve lies in the main brake path. The brake path pressure on each side of the valve is equalized by means of the hydraulic modulator before opening the electromagnetic valve.

    Abstract: A device is provided which improves the brake feeling on a motorcycle which uses a front-rear interlocking brake system. In the motorcycle braking device, which is equipped with an ABS, a brake caliper for a rear wheel works in conjunction with brake operation for a front wheel. When the ABS is active on the side of the front wheel, which is braked by a front wheel brake actuating unit such as a brake lever, the braking pressure ratio between the brake caliper for the front wheel and the brake caliper for the rear wheel is different from that when the ABS is inactive. A process is disclosed for setting an appropriate braking pressure at the rear wheel brake caliper based on a predetermined map of the relationship between the front wheel master cylinder pressure and the rear wheel brake caliper pressure, depending on the control mode.

    Abstract: An electronic braking device is provided which easily generates a braking force depending on the amount of brake operation in a range in which the amount of brake operation is small, just after the start of brake operation, and which protects a fluid pressure sensor from a fluid pressure beyond its tolerance. The electronic braking device activates a brake caliper through an electronic control unit (ECU) according to a signal in response to a braking request from a driver, and is provided with a first pressure sensor and a second pressure sensor for detecting the requested braking amount.     Abstract: A brake system includes a front and a rear wheel brake circuit which are independent of each other. Each circuit includes: a master cylinder connected to a brake caliper through the main brake line; a hydraulic pressure modulator which causes an electrically-operated motor to generate hydraulic pressure; and a normally-open electromagnetic on-off valve. When the two brake circuits are moved in response to operation of a braking operation unit in one circuit, in the brake circuit for which a braking operation unit was operated earlier, the electromagnetic on-off valve opens so that the brake caliper is operated by use of hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder. In the other brake circuit, the electromagnetic on-off valve is closed so that the brake caliper is operated by use of hydraulic pressure from the hydraulic pressure modulator. The braking system uses simple wheel braking mechanism and piping, and concurrently reduces electric current consumption.
