  • Publication number: 20040247286
Abstract: A hard disk recorder 1 is capable of performing fast-forward reproductions at 120× speed, 60× speed and 30× speed, and reproduces video images and audio sounds in a series of periodic reproduction zones in a video and audio file, each reproduction zone being for a predetermined reference time interval (e.g. 1 second), while skipping video images and audio sounds in other than the reproduction zones according to a ratio of the fast-forward speed to the predetermined reference time interval (skipping for 119 seconds at the 120× speed, 59 seconds at the 60× speed, and 29 seconds at the 30× speed, respectively). Each of the series of reproduction zones for the 120× speed, the series of reproduction zones for the 60× speed, and the series of reproduction zones for the 30× speed, each reproduction zone of which is for the reference time interval, is so set as to be free from overlap with the other series of reproduction zones.

  • Publication number: 20040240841
Abstract: When a mark key of a remote control is pressed by a user during fast-forward reproduction of video images and audio sounds, a system control unit searches a position of a video image which is presumed as a scene change closest to and on rewind side from the position of the video image reproduced at the time the mark key is pressed. This search is performed, based on rate of change in amount of data (bit rate) of the compressed video data used per unit time to generate the video signals by a video and audio signal processing unit. The system control unit then sets, as a mark position, the position of the video image presumed as the scene change.

  • Publication number: 20040150756
Abstract: In a digital broadcast receiving apparatus, when a power source operation input is done by a user during execution of a starting sequence, a control part stops the execution of the starting sequence and counts the number of operations for a preset time. When the number of operations is odd, an ending sequence is executed and a power source is stopped. On the other hand, when the number of operations is even, the starting sequence is resumed from the beginning and when the power source operation input is not done again, the starting sequence is executed and completed. When the starting sequence is completed, based on a digital broadcast signal of a desired channel received by a tuner through an antenna, a video signal and a sound signal are generated and are outputted to a display unit.

  • Publication number: 20020186327
Abstract: A digital broadcasting receiver that uses a channel map containing broadcast information such as channel numbers and virtual channel numbers is described. When a user selects a certain digital channel number, a control unit consisting of a CPU makes a search as to whether or not the number exists in the channel map. If the number does not exist, “No Signal” notice is displayed on a display and if the user selects a scan instruction then, the entire range of frequency band of the broadcasting signal is scanned. If a signal that corresponds to the digital channel number exists, its broadcast is received. Therefore, a search is possible even when the user knows only a virtual channel number and the digital channel number entered by the user is not registered in the channel map.

  • Publication number: 20020186328
Abstract: A broadcasting receiver that receives broadcasting signals transmitted by a broadcasting station accompanying audio signals of multiple languages and automatically selects a certain broadcasting language to be outputted is described here. The receiver is capable of displaying a “Priority Switching Language Registration Menu” on its display in order to set up and register switching of priority languages. A priority language list determined by a user referring to a language list database displayed on the display is stored into a memory together with the maximum number of audio channels set up by the user.

  • Publication number: 20020178449
Abstract: In a receiver, when a channel is registered on the channel map 15, the receiver 1 registers the channel by the unit of a physical channel, and when a channel is deleted from the channel map 15, the receiver 1 deletes the channel by the unit of a sub-channel. A common user has a tendency of watching most of a plurality of sub-channels contained in one physical channel and a tendency of not watching a portion of the plurality of sub-channels which the user does not like.

  • Publication number: 20020176028
Abstract: In a television receiving apparatus, a receiving apparatus 1 has storage means for storing a voice output switching table 20 registering a voice setting record 21 having the voice output format associated with the broadcasting language of the received digital broadcasting in a control unit 2. Every time the switching operation of the voice output format is made, the voice setting record 21 is selected in the registered order. Also, the receiving apparatus 1 outputs a voice signal with the language and the voice output format based on the selected voice setting record 21 from an output portion 6. Accordingly, the broadcasting language and the voice output format of the digital broadcasting being received can be switched by single operation, resulting in enhanced operability.

  • Publication number: 20020116704
Abstract: A receiving device used in a digital television includes an automatic storage section obtains the channel information on physical channels at which a program is broadcast, when the channel information contains any other physical channels therein, registers the physical channels thereof in a channel map, decides whether the physical channel which is switched has been registered in the channel map, and if the physical channel has been registered, not to detect whether a program is broadcast at the other physical channels. In this case, information of any other physical channel is present in a VCT, this other physical channel is registered in the channel map without detecting whether a program is broadcast at the channel. Therefore, the total number of the channels to be detected on whether a program is broadcast can be decreased, thus reducing the time for performing the automatic storage function.

  • Patent number: 6309029
Abstract: A braking device for a vehicle having an operational hydraulic brake system, and an electronically controlled brake system. The hydraulic brake system and the electronically controlled brake system act independently on a brake caliper of a hydraulic brake. The electronically controlled brake system independently controls the hydraulic actuator for applying a hydraulic pressure to the brake caliper with no interference between the brake systems, which increases the degree of freedom of electronic control of the brakes. A braking device is also applied in a vehicle having an ABS control device.
