    Abstract: A DC--DC converter unit includes a high-voltage circuit having a main fuse provided in a case, a branch circuit branched from the high-voltage circuit on a downstream side of the main fuse, a subfuse inserted in the branch circuit, and a DC-DC converter connected to a terminal of the branch circuit. A main battery, mounted on an electric vehicle, is connected to a primary side of the high-voltage circuit. A high-voltage load is connected to a secondary side of the high-voltage circuit. The circuit of the high-voltage portion can be shortened, so that covered harnesses and waterproof connectors used in the high-voltage portion can be reduced to thereby reduce the cost. Further, the reliability of the high-voltage portion can also be improved.

    Abstract: A color selecting electrode assembly for color cathode ray tubes which includes an apertured grill composed of fine-strand grids, a frame over which the aperture grill is stretched and which provides a tensioning force to the apertured grill, and a supporting structure body which is mounted at one end to said frame and engages the other end with the panel side wall of a color cathode ray tube so as to support said frame, wherein the wall thickness of said apertured grill is not greater than 0.032 mm. To assure the characteristic frequency of the aperture grill, it becomes unnecessary to manufacture individually frames having rigidities corresponding to respective slit pitches of the apertured grill. The frame can be a general purpose one (i.e., one used in common with others), thereby allowing the manufacture to be simplified. Further, the suppoting member can be also used in common with others, thereby allowing the design to be simplified.

    Abstract: An ATM switch capable of preventing the network resource from being wasted during the occurrence of an overcrowding condition. In the ATM switch, both a message type and a processing mode are stored in correspondence to the connections. When the discarding of a cell occurs, the connection to which the discarded cell belongs is set to a discard mode by a cell discard controlling circuit, and each cell constituting the same message as that of the discarded cell out of the subsequent cells is discarded, and when a demarkation of the message has been detected, the processing mode is returned to a transfer mode, whereby the subsequent received cells are transferred in a normal manner. Thus, the cell which has become useless for a reception terminal is discarded in the network.

    Abstract: A manufacturing method for a defect-free cast product comprises the steps of forming a cavity surrounded by a plurality of dies, charging molten conductive material into the cavity, and applying pressure to the conductive material by pressure means. In the method, additional pressure is selectively applied to the portion of the conductive material which may suffer shrinkage cavities due to delay in solidification, by utilizing the pressure applied by the pressure means and by relatively moving a portion of the dies with respect to the conductive material when the conductive material solidifies and shrinks, whereby shrinkage cavities are prevented. Accordingly, with a cast rotor core obtained by this method, it is possible to prevent shrinkage cavities from occurring in the conductive material and it is also possible to improve the efficiency and torque characteristics of the motor, thereby achieving reductions in the size and weight of the motor.

    Abstract: A three-roller bending apparatus having a movable top roller and two stationary bottom rollers has a curvature measuring unit for automatically measuring the radius of curvature of a workpiece being bent and for displaying the measured value for an operator. The curvature measuring unit comprises three probes, at least one of which is a movable probe whose displacement produces an electrical output signal while the remaining probes are stationary. The probes are made to contact the surface of a workpiece, and the electrical output signal is applied to a calculating and display unit which calculates the radius of curvature of the workpiece and displays the result. The apparatus may further comprise a CPU which automatically controls both the rolling of the workpiece and the operation of the curvature measuring unit and determines when to terminate rolling based on the output of the curvature measuring unit.
