  • Patent number: 6971438
Abstract: A vehicle radiator device having a radiator with a first tank and a second tank coupled through a heat radiation core. The radiator is mounted onto an engine in a power unit supported by a vehicle body frame. The first and second tanks of the radiator are made of synthetic resin. The radiator is mounted onto the engine through a shroud for conducting cooling wind passing through the radiator. The shroud is made of elastic material for conducting cooling so that vibrations of the engine are absorbed by the elasticity of the shroud, thus preventing vibration of the radiator.

  • Publication number: 20050109554
Abstract: A belt continuously variable transmission apparatus having a case which includes a power transmission case (which is part of a crankcase of an engine), a power transmission case cover, and an actuator cover assembled forwardly of the power transmission case cover (displaced forwardly on a vehicle body). The actuator cover is formed as a separate member from the power transmission case cover, and supports a motor for driving a movable part of a driving pulley. In addition, the actuator cover covers a gear system. The actuator cover is integrated with a cover of the water pump. The resulting configuration improves the assembling of the actuator cover of the belt continuously variable transmission apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20050045164
Abstract: A blowby gas ventilation system for an internal combustion engine capable of preventing oil from being diluted by efficiently and quickly exhausting a blowby gas together with a water content and the like from a crank chamber through forced ventilation of the crank chamber. The blowby gas ventilation system is intended for a four-stroke-cycle internal combustion engine. The system includes a fresh air introduction pipe, through which fresh air is sent from an outside of the internal combustion engine through a throttle portion to a crank chamber. The system also includes a blowby gas return passageway, through which the blowby gas is returned back to a downstream side of an air cleaner.

  • Patent number: 6519107
Abstract: A method for servowriting a magnetic hard disk drive includes servowriting a first servo burst pattern by using a servowriter coupled to a head-disk assembly within a clean room environment, self-writing at least a second servo burst pattern radially offset relative to the first burst pattern by reading the first burst pattern without using the servowriter, and self-writing a final burst pattern by using the first burst pattern and the second burst pattern without using the servowriter. One or more intermediate burst patterns may be provided to accommodate writer/reader offset of dual element read heads in order to produce final product servo burst patterns. A disk drive having embedded servo sectors each including an untrimmed six-burst final servo pattern is also disclosed. The disk drive self-writes at least some of the final servo pattern.

  • Patent number: 5838031
Abstract: 4-terminal HEMT-HBT composite devices, based upon monolithically integrated HEMT-HBT technology and configured in various topologies, are useful in a wide range of applications which currently utilize discrete MMICs. In particular, the 4-terminal topologies are easily configured as 3-terminal composite devices useful in various 2-port and 3-port MMIC circuit applications, such as low noise-high linearity amplifiers as well as mixers, which provide the benefits of a reduction in size, as well as corresponding cost while providing better performance than utilizing either HEMT or HBT devices individually.

  • Patent number: 5672522
Abstract: A method for fabricating an HBT in which the subcollector-base junction, which contributes to the base-collector capacitance of the device, is reduced by using a selective subcollector. In particular, subcollector areas of the device that do not contribute to collector resistance reduction are eliminated, thereby reducing the subcollector area, which, in turn, reduces the base-collector capacitance. As such, the maximum power-gain frequency f.sub.max is increased.

  • Patent number: 5648666
Abstract: This invention discloses a heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) which includes a relatively thin intrinsic collector region and a relatively thick extrinsic collector region such that collector-base capacitance is reduced and electron transit time is maintained. The fabrication of the HBT includes loading a semi-insulating substrate into an molecular beam epitaxy machine, and growing a sub-collector contact layer, a bottom collector layer and a top collector layer on the substrate. Next, the substrate is removed from the molecular beam epitaxy machine and the top collector layer is etched by a photolithographic process to produce separate intrinsic and extrinsic collector regions. Then, the substrate is again loaded into the molecular beam epitaxy machine so that the base and emitter layers can be grown. And finally, the emitter layer is etched to form an emitter mesa only over the intrinsic semiconductor region.

  • Patent number: 4714056
Abstract: A two-cycle engine includes a cylinder block having at least one pair of first and second cylinders, the first and second cylinders having a pair of first and second exhaust ports, respectively. A pair of first and second pistons are received respectively in the first and second cylinders for reciprocal movement therealong, each of the exhaust ports being selectively closed and opened by a respective one of the pistons during the movement thereof along a respective one of the cylinders. The first and second pistons are operatively connected to a crankshaft in such a manner that the first and second pistons are reciprocable 180.degree. out of phase along the respective cylinders. A final portion of the duration of opening of one of the exhaust ports overlaps an initial portion of the duration of opening of the other. An exhaust passage has a communicating portion communicating the first and second exhaust ports with each other adjacent thereto.
