Abstract: Systems and methods for accepting payments for goods and services provided by a merchant. In one embodiment, a method for accepting payments from a consumer for a good or service provided by a merchant comprises receiving a transaction request from the merchant, receiving a payment from the consumer, associating the payment with the transaction request, and sending at least a portion of the payment to the merchant. In this manner, the merchant stages the transaction, and the consumer completes the transaction by making the payment. An optional time limit feature also may be used, and the transaction may be staged by the consumer, or others.

Abstract: A method for requesting one or more machines to be maintained includes monitoring the machine or machines and detecting when a failure of at least one machine occurs. The method further includes executing a computer program on an electronic terminal associated with the failed machine. The method further includes entering data relating to the condition of the failed machine into the computer program via the electronic terminal and transmitting the data to a database server, thereby initiating a process to alter the condition of the failed machine. In one embodiment of the method, the database server compiles historical data relating to the condition of the one or more machines. The historical information may be used in a predictive maintenance environment to further minimize downtime.

Payment is provided for the ticket, and the identifier and a payment amount is entered into a payment processing device. The negotiable instrument acceptor is configured to acquire information from a negotiable instrument. The method further includes providing a first kiosk access device to a first customer. Providing the first kiosk access device includes receiving and storing personal information associated with the first customer. The method also includes, at the first kiosk, acquiring access information from the first kiosk access device, based at least in part on the access information, determining whether to provide access to the kiosk, via the negotiable instrument acceptor, receiving a negotiable instrument, acquiring negotiable instrument information from the negotiable instrument, and, based at least in part on the negotiable instrument information, determining whether to provide the customer access to value represented by the negotiable instrument.

Abstract: A system and method for displaying a presentation instrument such as a gift card, and for establishing and maintaining an account associated with the gift card. The gift card is packaged with a card carrier for display at a retail establishment, with both the card and the card carrier each having an account identifying element, such as a magnetic stripe or bar code. The identifying element on the card may be electronically read in order to conduct transactions against the account. The identifying element on the card carrier may be electronically read to activate the account, but not conduct transactions, thereby reducing the opportunity for fraudulent transactions against the account.

Abstract: A method of providing network access includes entering network access information into a merchant device at a merchant location. The information relates to a request from a customer to obtain network access. The method also includes causing the information to be transmitted to a host computer system from the merchant device, receiving a payment from the customer, receiving activation confirmation from the host computer system at the merchant device, and providing a presentation instrument to the customer. The presentation instrument may be used by the customer to obtain network access. The method further includes using the presentation instrument to settle a transaction with the customer for merchandise.

Abstract: A method for electronically transferring an amount of money from an initiator to a receiver is disclosed. The amount is enhanced or matched by a matching party. In one step, transfer information is received from the initiator. The transfer information includes at least two of a third party identifier, a second party identifier and the amount. The transfer information is analyzed. An enhancing amount to transfer from the matching party to the receiver is determined. Money is transferred to the receiver that corresponds to the amount and the enhancing amount.

The request includes the account identifier. The player selects a lottery pick, and a confirmation of the lottery pick is provided to the player.

Abstract: A method of disclosing transaction information to customers includes receiving at a host computer system a file comprising processing information. The processing information comprises a plurality of transaction categories and fee information associated with each transaction category. The method also includes receiving a message from a point-of-sale device requesting the fee information associated with at least one particular transaction category relating to a transaction with a customer and sending from the host computer system an electronic message comprising the fee information. The method further comprises displaying transaction information relating to the electronic message at the point-of-sale device and providing the customer the opportunity to cancel the transaction. The transaction may involve an exchange between at least two different forms of value.

Abstract: The present invention provides improved apparatus, methods, and systems for displaying and packaging financial presentation instruments, particularly stored value, gift, or other pre-paid debit cards. In one embodiment of the present invention, a method for displaying a financial presentation instrument with an integrated holder is provided. The method comprises providing a data card having an information storage medium and an aperture therethrough. The data card is then suspended from a display hook through the at least one aperture. Hence, the present invention advantageously allows for convenient displaying and easy access to the data card for activation at the time the card is purchased by a consumer. Further, the integrated holder on the data card decreases the operating costs and increases the efficiency for selling such debit cards as no additional materials, packaging, or carriers other than the data card itself are needed for the presentation and display of such debit cards.

Abstract: An improved dolly system including at least three dollies adjustably interconnected as a system to allow a trailer or other vehicle to be loaded therein. The dollies are adjusted for the width and the length of the trailer to mate the dollies with the wheels of the trailer. Four dollies can be adjustably connected in a system to provide a vehicle dolly system. The system can include one or more brakes and once loaded the system can be moved in any direction to facilitate the maximum use of available parking space.

Abstract: Systems and methods for distributing and/or calculating elective account balances. Various of the systems include one or more microprocessor based devices that are coupled to a communication network. A computer readable medium is associated with at least one of the microprocessor based devices, and includes instructions executable by the microprocessor based device to serve interfaces and receive information via the interfaces. In addition, the information received via the interfaces can be used to allocate at least a portion of an elective balance to a redemption category, and to calculate a redemption amount. Various of the methods include receiving one or both of a bid premium and a allocation amount. This information can be used to calculate a redemption amount.
