Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for managing a financial account in which account information is maintained, including a set of account parameter values and a specification of a default account processing strategy. Account usage information is received for the financial account and is used in combination with the account parameter values to make a determination whether to override at least a portion of the account processing strategy. In addition to implementing the override, the set of account parameter values may be changed.

Abstract: A method for requesting one or more machines to be maintained includes monitoring the machine or machines and detecting when a failure of at least one machine occurs. The method further includes executing a computer program on an electronic terminal associated with the failed machine. The method further includes entering data relating to the condition of the failed machine into the computer program via the electronic terminal and transmitting the data to a database server, thereby initiating a process to alter the condition of the failed machine. In one embodiment of the method, the database server compiles historical data relating to the condition of the one or more machines. The historical information may be used in a predictive maintenance environment to further minimize downtime.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for processing money-order requests and other transactions. A list of prohibited persons is maintained, such as a copy of an OFAC SDN list. When a request is made to execute the transaction, name information is collected from a customer and compared with the list. If the name information matches an entry on the list, the transaction request is declined.

Abstract: A card destruction system comprises a reader to read identification information from a card. A controller is coupled to the reader to receive the identification information and to determine whether the card is to be destroyed. A delivery sensor is coupled to the controller to sense when the card is delivered to a card destruction device. The controller is also configured to produce a record of the destruction based on a signal from the sensor.

Abstract: According to the invention, a method for automatically processing an incoming payment for a payee with an online money transfer system. In one step, information is received at the online money transfer system. That information relates to processing of one or more received payments associated with the payee. At some point, the incoming payment associated with the payee is received. A default repository for the incoming payment is determined. It is determined whether to transfer at least some of the incoming payment away from the default repository or escrow at least a portion of the incoming payment for benefit of at least one predetermined party. Either the earmark or the escrow is applied after this determination.

Abstract: According to the invention, a method for automatically transferring an incoming payment to a handler is disclosed. In one step, the incoming payment associated with a payee is received. A first predetermined rule that applies to the incoming payment is determined. The first predetermined rule is applied to the incoming payment. It is determined if a second predetermined rule applies to the incoming payment. The second predetermined rule is applied to the incoming payment based upon the second-listed determining step.

Abstract: A method for producing and weighing a mailing unit that is formed from a plurality of components including inserts and envelopes comprises the steps of determining a weight for each of the components and electronically storing a record of the weights. The inserts are placed into the envelope to form the mailing unit, and the weight of the mailing unit is determined based on the weights of the components utilized to form the mailing unit that are stored in the weight record.
