  • Publication number: 20080022596
Abstract: A door signaling system can warn a forklift driver on one side of a closed door that a pedestrian may be on the other side, thereby averting a collision between the forklift and the pedestrian. In some embodiments, the signaling system includes an elongate light prominently disposed along a perimeter of the doorway. In response to the pedestrian being at the door or in response to some other predetermined door-related event, the light warns the forklift driver of the situation or event. In some embodiments, the signaling system warns the driver by sounding a horn on the driver's vehicle or by shining a light upon tile door or against the floor.

  • Publication number: 20080005058
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for optimizing allocation of an entity's resources based on an existing set of the entity's geographical service territories, wherein each territory includes both existing and potential customers. A plurality of territory-selection criteria are established and existing and potential customer data are compiled for each of the entity's existing territories. Customer data are quantified, and an overall rating indicative of the relative level of compliance between each existing territory's customer data and the territory-selection criteria is calculated. Based on the magnitude of the average overall rating for all existing territories, the geographical boundaries of at least one of the entity's existing territories are reconfigured to generate a new set of territories in such a way as to reduce the average rating.

  • Publication number: 20070007960
Abstract: Coil sensitivity of a receive coil to a gradient null location is measured and, from the measurements, a coil calibration value is determined and used to modify the MR data acquired with that receive coil to reduce the adverse effects of gradient nulling on MR images. Coil sensitivity values are determined for each coil of a coil array and the data for each coil is respectively weighted. An image that is substantially free of gradient null artifacts or ghosting is then reconstructed from the weighted data.

  • Patent number: 7111404
Abstract: A shield apparatus for use with a powered vegetation trimmer of the type including a trimmer head assembly having an output shaft and a cutting mechanism rotatable with the output shaft. The shield apparatus is mounted coaxially about the output shaft between the cutting mechanism and a head portion of the head assembly. The shield includes first and second outer walls coaxially disposed about the axis of rotation of the output shaft. The first outer wall circumscribes at least a portion of the cutting element to define a distal annular gap. The second outer wall circumscribes at least a portion of the head portion of the head assembly to define a proximal annular gap. The shield isolates the output shaft from the area surrounding the cutting mechanism so as to prevent vegetative matter from contacting the output shaft, or at least minimize such contact.

  • Publication number: 20060036161
Abstract: The present invention includes a technique for use with magnetic resonance imaging that includes the application of a non-linear, higher-order gradient field in the presence of a moving object to be scanned. MR data is acquired as the object moves through the non-linear gradient field. Resulting images are contiguous and do not require the patching together of data in either k-space or image space and result in an image with expanded FOV in a longitudinal direction of the moving object.

  • Publication number: 20060022674
Abstract: Measuring and correcting for eddy currents in a magnetic imaging system includes running a pulse sequence using bipolar gradients to acquire a phase-difference image and a phase response of a static phantom that fills a majority of a field of view (FOV) of the magnetic imaging system, fitting the phase difference image to a two-dimensional second order polynomial, and changing the pulse sequence to provide a different delay. The method further includes iterating the running a pulse sequence and fitting the phase difference image and phase response with different delays to determine coefficients of the second order polynomial and a time constant of the phase response. The method also includes correcting a pre-emphasis system of the magnetic imaging system in accordance with the time constant of the phase response, determining an amplitude of correction to reduce the determined coefficients, and storing the determined corrections in the pre-emphasis system.
