  • Patent number: 7669251
Abstract: An impact and/or vibration absorbent material and protective articles making use of said material. An impact and/or vibration absorbent material of the present invention has at least two material layers. The individual layers of the impact and/or vibration absorbent material may be of the same material, or of different materials. Each material layer preferably contains a number of holes. The holes in one layer are located and arranged to be offset from the holes in an adjacent layer. The combination of inherent material properties and the inclusion and arrangement of holes renders such a material highly impact and/or vibration absorbent. Through use of a protective article of the present invention, the effects of impact and/or vibration forces on a user of the protective article can be minimized.

  • Patent number: 7555552
Abstract: A method and apparatus for policy management in a network intermediary device. One embodiment of the invention, includes establishing a session between a client and an intermediary device on a network to enable processing of a communication between the client and the intermediary device. Then, the communication is processed by the intermediary device while maintaining a consistent version of policy throughout the communication. Finally, after the communication is complete, the intermediary terminates the communication. The intermediary device may maintain consistent policy by utilizing a policy ticket upon which transactional information is stored and that references the version of policy that was current when the communication first began.

  • Patent number: 7254840
Abstract: An impact and/or vibration absorbent material and articles, particularly a protective glove, making use of said material. When used in an impacting article, deflection of portions of one material layer into the holes in an adjacent material layer at impact further provides an enhanced transfer of impact force to an impacted object.

  • Publication number: 20070134694
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of detecting dengue infection by detecting anti-dengue neutralizing substances including anti-dengue antibody by measuring inhibition of dengue binding to dentritic cell-specific intracellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) 3-grabbing nonintegrin (DC-SIGN) or liver/lymph node-specific intracellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) 3-grabbing nonintegrin (L-SIGN). DC-SIGN or L-SIGN can be used expressed in transfected cell lines that normally are not infected by dengue virus. • Publication number: 20070134695
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for diagnosing dengue invention early after dengue virus infection. The method comprises binding dengue virus contained in sera from infected patients with dentritic cell-specific intracellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) 3-grabbing nonintegrin (DC-SIGN) or liver/lymph node-specific intracellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) 3-grabbing nonintegrin (L-SIGN). DC-SIGN or L-SIGN can be expressed in transfected B cells or adhered to other surfaces. Measurement of binding is by immunocytometry, microscopy or other antibody based methods.

  • Patent number: 7219531
Abstract: A testing apparatus and method for determining the impact an/or vibration absorbent characteristics of an impact and/or vibration absorbent material. The apparatus includes a base having upwardly extending vertical guide rods. A sample plate is maintained in a position above the base by one or more springs of known spring rate. A weight is adapted to move vertically along the guide rods and to impact the sample plate and a sample of impact and/or vibration absorbent material when dropped from a raised position. The impact of the weight causes a downward vertical displacement of the sample plate, which displacement is measured by a moveable indicator. This displacement can be used, along with the total spring rate provided by the spring(s), to calculate a pass-through impact force. The pass-through impact force can then be subtracted from the impact force generated by the falling weight to determine the amount of impact force absorbed by the impact and/or vibration absorbent material.

  • Publication number: 20060026509
Abstract: Network information can be represented by displaying one or more graphical components representing network entities in a first portion of a graphical user interface. An embedded browser is provided in a second portion of the graphical user interface. A selection of one of the graphical components is detected. In response to the selection, browser-compatible data is retrieved from a network entity corresponding to the selected graphical component, and the browser-compatible data is rendered in the embedded browser.

  • Publication number: 20050165906
Abstract: A method and apparatus for deploying and activating services in a communications network. In the context of a communications network that deploys service functionality by distributing managed software objects to service processing nodes, the present invention relates to selectively dispensing managed objects from a central repository and coordinating the instantaneous activation or deactivation of services throughout the network. Furthermore, where a managed object service creation environment is coupled to such a network, the method and apparatus of the present invention provides security, back-up, and version control of managed objects and other network data stored in the repository.

  • Patent number: 6379030
Abstract: An external aiming headlamp assembly including a plastic housing supported on a vehicle body in a headlamp port for universal articulation to aim the headlamp assembly and an adjustable flexible seal on the plastic housing. The flexible seal includes an outer lip bearing against the headlamp port, an inner lip flush against an outside surface of the plastic housing, and a convex web exposed in a clearance gap between headlamp port and the plastic housing. Posts on the plastic housing protrude through slots in the inner lip and include barbs which prevent dislodgment of the inner lip. The slots in an adjustable fraction of the inner lip are elongated and cooperate with the corresponding posts in guiding the adjustable fraction of the inner lip for translation through a range of positions to vary the exposure of the convex web. The edges of the elongated slots are interrupted by notches separated by flexible gates.

  • Patent number: 6136179
Abstract: This invention relates to a process of catalytic hydroconversion of a heavy hydrocarbon oil containing a substantial portion of components having an atmospheric boiling point above 565.degree. C. to give a product hydrocarbon oil containing components having a boiling point below about 565.degree. C. The process includes steps of mixing a heavy hydrocarbon oil with an oil soluble molybdenum compound, introducing the resulting mixture into a hydroconversion zone, introducing a reactor feed gas into the hydroconversion zone, and recovering the product hydrocarbon oil from the hydroconversion zone.

  • Patent number: 5857938
Abstract: A manual shift tower has a selector lever pivotally mounted for manipulation by an operator along a path to a plurality of forward drive ratio positions and a reverse ratio position. The tower has a solenoid control bellcrank which is operable to position a pin in the path of the lever to permit removal of the shift lever from the reverse ratio position when the solenoid is in a first position. The bellcrank of the solenoid is also drivingly connected with an ignition cable which is operable to position a stop member for preventing removal of the ignition key until the shift lever is in the reverse ratio position and the ignition is turned to "Off".

  • Patent number: 5775450
Abstract: A specially designed deflector is mounted to the radiator cooling fan assembly, so as to catch and redirect some of the air that has been pulled through the radiator, up and over the engine, between the top of the engine and the underside of the hood. On the underside of the hood, an elongated, hollow curb divides up the space between the underside of the hood and the top of the engine. The curb has a front end located above and to the outside of the deflector, and runs diagonally across the hood underside to a back end that is located to the outside of the alternator. The air is directed along the side of the curb and ultimately over the alternator, thereby cooling it.
